After a recent reboot of an Exchange 2013 server, I can no longer get into OWA or ECP.
When rebooting, the server gave me the option to 'Update and Reboot' which I did. It appears that CU9 was installed according to recent updates however I did not manually apply the update.
After reboot, all Exchange services and a few other services were set to Disabled. Using another Exchange server I was able to determine what the startup type should be, set it accordingly and was able to get mail working however I still have some problems.
OWA will display logon screen but says 'bad request' after entering credentials. ECP gives the following

I tried to uninstall CU9 but after reboot all services were disabled again. Now that mail flow is working, I wanted to get some other ideas before experimenting and making things worse. This appears to be an IIS issue but I welcome ideas, or better yet, solution, on how to get things working again.
Thank you.
Hi there,
I have two exch2013cu21 std servers (Server A & B) in two differnet locations with DAG.
Recently found that server B with eventid 7031 shown cluster service has issue.
I cannot start the service manually. It shown “service-specific error code 2”.
Stupid enough, somehow I run “cluster node /force” into Server A wrongly. Then email service stopped.
Server A cluster service same as Server B, stopped and unable to start manually.
Eventually I have to create new cluster in Failover Cluster Manager (old name: DAG1; new name with new IP: DAG3) then the cluster service started. I can mount the database in EAC manually. The email services back to normal.
However there's still some abnormaly. Server A & B cannot connect back DAG1 in Failover Cluster Manager (nothing shown after click “connect to cluster”), but EAC shown DAG1 normal.
How can I connect DAG1 back to Failover Cluster Manager and remove DAG3 in Failover Cluster Manager?
Now what's the most appropriate method to fix?
Connect DAG1 back to Failover Cluster Manager & remove DAG3 in Failover Cluster Manger?
Create new DAG3 in EAC & remove DAG1 in EAC?
Many thx!

I've setup our Exchange 2013 in hybrid mode with Office 365. I'm able to migrate mailboxes to Office 365 just fine and I can create new mailboxes from the Exchange 2013 ECP by choosing "Office 365 mailbox" just fine, but my co-worker who already has rights to create mailboxes does not see the option to create Office 365 mailboxes.
My user account is part of the domain admins group, my co-worker does not have those permissions.
What permissions or roles are we missing?
Carlton.

We have 3 Exchange 2013 servers running on server 2012 R2. Our data base is in a DAG on all 3. Recently we've had issues with some users, not all, being unable to connect using Outlook 2010. We delete their profiles, remove the Outlook entry in Credential Manger, recreate the profile and it works. For awhile. Then the same thing happens. It seems to be mostly the same users. Everyone is on the same server and Database.
The users are on Windows 7. Any ideas?
I see that part of the migration documentation suggests making the ClientAuthenticationMethod to NTLM and IISAuthenticationMethods to NTLM, Basic. in the current Exchange 2010 server settings, prior to accepting Exchange 2013 connections.
I currently have all clients set to use Basic authentication in the Exchange proxy settings. Will the clients be affected when I do this ? Does the proxy connection in Outlook use the IISAuthentic methods, so will not be affected or will the client update automatically ?
From few days I am struggling on finding a right solution to export Zimbra desktop mails on Windows but continuously failing. I was using Zimbra 8 and recently switched to another Windows based email platform. But still there are few Zimbra files that are important for me and unable to open them in Windows, repeatedly error is occurring. So, anybody has a solution, please recommend, I need it ASAP!!!!
In my testenvironment, my Ex2016 installation freeded . It was arount the 53%.My logfile tells me this:
[08/17/2018 14:41:31.0662] [0] Local time zone: (UTC+01:00) Brussels, Copenhagen, Madrid, Paris.Anyone who can see if something went wrong or how should i test if my Exchange environment is ok?
We have recently installed Exchange 2016 into our Exchange 2013 environment, with the aim to eventually decommission the 2013 servers. Two DAGs - one in the 2013 environment and on in the 2016 environment.
When assign our SAN certificate to the relevant services (IIS, SMTP, POP and IMAP) the "Microsoft Exchange" certificate still has IIS assigned to it. Is this right, or should the IIS service only be assigned to the SAN certificate?
We are having issues accessing OWA externally, and I'm pretty sure it is the certificate configuration. Certificates we have are as follows:
There are two Microsoft Exchange certificates on one of our 2013 servers, not sure why.
Can anyone advise on how these should be configured? Is it safe to delete the duplicate Microsoft Exchange certificate on that one server?
The exact message:
There is a pending reboot from a previous installation of a Windows Server role or feature. Please restart the computer and then run Setup again.
Other posts say to remove:
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SessionManager\PendingFileRenameOperations
But that key does not exist. Needless to say, I have recently restarted the server after seeing this error.

Good Day
I have an SBS 11 Server I am busy migrating to 2013
It has a pop3 connector on the SBS 11 server
I have installed a pop3 connector from Pop3connex and everything works on my account.
As soon as I remove the pop3 account from SBS 11 all incommoding mail stops and does not flow to the exchange 2013 server
I have already migrated the mailboxes over to 2013
The Pop3connex works with my mailbox but not with any others sometimes it downloads sometimes it does not.
I am at my wits end with this . the company is on dynamic IP with smart host thus MX records routing is not possible and port 25 is blocked. I have a mikrotik router . Could it be port 110 is open for both and the new server and will it cause issues?
Hi Everyone,
I am planning to upgrade Exchange 2013 CU5 to CU20 with following steps (One Server at a time). I have 4 servers (non DAG) with MBX/CAS role and .NET version install on all server is 4.5.2
Before all the above steps , there is one step which is AD Schema Extension. if I try to extend AD Schema using CU 20 Binary it will not allow me to do it since exchange servers does not have .net 4.7.1 and it will fail.
Since there is no AD Schema change after CU7 my question is, CAN I use CU14 Binary to Prepare AD Schema?
Does someone shed their experience on this type of scenario?

Our Exchange organization has 4 Exchange 2016 servers in a DAG (EX2016A, ...,EX2016D) and had 2 remaining Exchange 2013 Servers (EX2013A and EX2013B). When I originally installed Exchange 2013, EX2013A was the first Exchange 2013 server installed.
Earlier this year, I decommissioned two other Exchange 2013 servers (EX2013C and EX2013D) that had been in the organization, and that uninstall completed without error.
I am now decommissioning the remaining two Exchange 2013 servers, and I ran into an error with EX2013B. I think that it
uninstalled sufficiently because it seems to be out of the Exchange organization, but I want to be sure before trying to
uninstall EX2013A.
I opened Programs and features on EX2013B and ran the uninstallation of Exchange 2013. I got an error at "Step 9 of 13: Stopping Services".
Error:
The following error was generated when "$error.Clear();
& $RoleBinPath\ServiceControl.ps1 DisableServices $RoleRoles.Replace('Role'.").Split(',');
& $RoleBinPath\ServiceControl.ps1 Stop $RoleRoles.Replace('Role'.").Split(',')
"was run: Microsoft.PowerShell.Commands.ServiceCommandException: Service 'Microsoft Exchange Information Store
(MSExchangeIS)' cannot be configured due to the following error: The specified service has been marked for deletion --->
System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: The specified service has been marked for deletion
---End of inner exception stack trace---"
My only option was to exit. In the application log, I saw the 4 events repeated from the RestartManager. These events repeated many times within about 5 seconds.
10000 Information"Starting session 0 <date and time>"
10010 Warning"Application 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\Bin\ExSetupUI.exe' (pid 16156) cannot be
restarted - Application SID does not match Conductor SID.."
10005 Information"Machine restart is required."
10001 Information"Ending session 0 started <date and time>"
After exiting the uninstall routine, I restarted the server, and Exchange Server 2013 was still listed in Programs and Features. When I tried to run the uninstall again, I got a popup error that said "An incomplete installation was detected.
Run setup to complete Exchange installation."
In spite of that, it looks like Exchange was almost fully uninstalled.
In the event log, immediately after the last repetition of the events listed above, there is an information event 1001 from MSExchangeSetup that says "Exchange Setup (build 15.0.1263.5:Languages) completed successfully."
There is only one Exchange service still on the server (Microsoft Exchange Host Controller), and it is now disabled.
On the Exchange 2016 servers, EX2013B is no longer listed in EAC, and when I run Get-ExchangeServer, EX2013B is not listed.
When I run Exchange Management Shell on EX2013B, it fails to connect to EX2013B then successfully connects to EX2013A.
EX2013B is no longer listed in ADSI Edit under Configuration|CN=Configuration,DC=MyCorp,DC=COM|CN=Services|CN=Microsoft Exchange|CN=MyCorp|CN=Administrative Groups|CN=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)|CN=Servers.
Can I safely proceed with removing the Windows server EX2013B from the Domain and turning it off, or are there other steps I need to take?
Thank you very much for your help with this.
