move mailboxes from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013, stuck at syncing

$

Hi Forum,

Happy New Year !

I have a test environment which consists of Exchange 2010 and Exchange 2013.

I tried to move mailboxes from Exchange 2010 databases to Exchange 2013 database. Eventually I would remove Exchange 2010.

I log onto exchange 2013 ECP and start a mailbox move, the migration batch would start, but the status would show syncing for days.

the Exchange 2013 has CAS and mailbox role installed.

any ideas to fix the issue?

Thanks & Regards

Michael

Outlook Anywhere - 2013 CAS Coexistence with Exchange 2007 MB and two domains

Hi,

We are currently starting a migration from Exchange 2007 (old domain) to Exchange 2013 (new domain). As I read through the Deployment Checklist I stumbled upon Outlook Anywhere. Is it possible to use the already configured Ex2013 CAS Server with the old 2007 MB Server?

My idea was to use the new CAS together with the new users in the new domain but allow the users to still access their old mails on the old Mailboxes, before they are ready on the new Mailbox Servers. That way they could already switch to the new CAS and are done with their part of the migration. Then we have all the time we want to migrate the actual data. The challenge is that we are also preparing for a domain migration and therefore the old Exchange Servers are in the old domain and the new ones are in the new domain. Two way trust is in place. Is this possible and how would the best practice would look like in this case?

Im in the middle of a rather large migration and a few users are see the below error when trying to log in to OWA:

I cant find much on this error other than the enable inheritance permissions fix which all these accounts already have.

Has anyone else come across this before?

Rollup installation Edge server with Forefront Protection

Hello all,

I read several stories on the internet that people are having issues with Forefront Protection for Exchange or edge subscriptions that need to be re-created when deploying a service pack on an Edge server. Is this a possibility for rollups as well? In other words, could we be getting any problems when applying a rollup on an Edge server in relation to the subscription or Forefront Protection for Exchange. We use 2010 SP3 rollup 7 and are upgrading to rollup 11.

Hello,

I'm trying to upgrade our Exchange 2013 environment to SP1 CU11, but the update fails every time either at "Stopping Services" or "Restoring Services". It seems to be timing out when trying to stop/restart Microsoft Exchange services. Is there any way of getting around the Timeout error?

Deploying Exchange 2013 DAG in Microsoft Azure Private Cloud

We are planning to create a Microsoft Azure Private cloud to host several applications.  We are also planning to move our current Exchange DAG which I is hosted on Hyper-V cluster into the Azure Private Cloud.  I am wondering is there any Microsoft recommendations or best practices to host Exchange DAG in the Azure Private Cloud?  Can Azure Private Cloud host Exchange DAG?

Thanks.

Installing Exchange 2013 on Server 2012R2 which is a member of 2008 DC?

Hi,

Hope someone can help me.

I'm planning to install Exchange 2013 on Server 2012R2, this is not a DC, its just a member of 2008 DC .

Do i need to upgrade my DC to 2012r2 before installing exchange or is possible to install in the current environment?

I have Exchange 2007 on Windows 2008 DC, plan is to install exchange 2013 on the new 2012R2 server and leave the old server to be just the DC. Exchange will be migrated to the new server.

Thanks!

Unable to update Admin Tools to Exchange 2013 CU 10 on Windows 10 machine

We just updated all of our Exchange servers to Exchange 2013 CU 10 (previously on CU7) and I am trying to upgrade my admin tools on my computer (Windows 10). I am doing an unattended install from the command line by running the command "setup.exe /m:upgrade /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms". The process fails when it tries to disable the services. Essentially it is failing on disabling the "Application Identity" service. When trying to disable that service, I get an Access Denied error no matter what I do. Even booting into Safe Mode to disable the service gives me access denied. Any ideas on how I can get around this?

     The following error was generated when "$error.Clear();

CU 10 Install Error

I had an error updating my Exchange 2013 CU 8 to CU 10 last week - set up failed at step 14 of 18 Mailbox Role: Mailbox Service - the error was " Couldn't resolve the user or group "ourdomain/Microsoft Exchange Security Groups/Discovery Management." I have the full error below. I found two possible solutions to the error by googling and resolved and completed the install issue by deleting the DiscoverySearchMailbox {D919BA05-46A6-415f-80AD-7E09334BB852} user account from AD (the other possible solution was to disable the discovery search mailbox, but I could not do this because the install was already half way through. After setup completed, I ran Setup /PrepareAD /IAcceptblablabla... and the DiscoverySearchMailbox was recreated, but the mailbox was not.  I found the commands to recreate the mailbox and user and the discovery search is now working, but I would like to find out why did this setup error occurred. I didn't run PrepareAD prior to install - read some info that this was not needed from CU 8, but other than that we have a very vanilla setup - single forest domain, 2 DCs, one Exchange Server, small org (30 MBs), no fancy addons, I had disabled the AV prior to install, so I am hoping someone might be able to shed some light on why this error occurred on an account that existed previously?

Thanks in advance for any help - here is the full error received:

Cross Forest Migration: mrsproxy.svc' failed because no service was listening on the specified

$

I am running a Cross Forest Migration from Exchange 2010  SP3 to Exchange 2013

I have

  • Two-way Trust in place
  • Enabled MRS Proxy on the Source Client Access Servers
  • Increase timeout in the Exchange 2010 web.config files and restarted IIS
  • Exported the Cert from Source Exchange Server and import it on Target Exchange Server

I run the following prepare move command

.\Prepare-MoveRequest.Ps1 -Identity "EMAIL ADDRESS" -RemoteForestDomainController "SOURCE DC" -RemoteForestCredential $Remote -LocalForestDomainController "CHILD.TARGET DC" -LocalForestCredential $Local -TargetMailUserOU "OU=x DC=com" –UseLocalObject

This runs then I run ADMT to migrate the password and SID History.

Then I run the following Move Request

New-MoveRequest -Identity "EMAIL ADDRESS" -Remote -TargetDatabase "DB" -RemoteGlobalCatalog " SOURCE DC" -RemoteCredential $Remote -TargetDeliveryDomain "SMTP DOMAIN"-RemoteHostName outlook.company.com -DomainControllerCHILD.TARGET DC

Now I get the following error message:

The call to 'https://outlook.company.com/EWS/mrsproxy.svc' failed because no service was listening on the specified

endpoint. Error details: There was no endpoint listening at https://outlook.company.com/EWS/mrsproxy.svc that could

accept the message. This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. See InnerException, if present, for

more details. --> The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found.

From the Target Exchange server I can browse to 'https://outlook.company.com/EWS/mrsproxy.svc' and enter my credentials and it connects.

I am using a F5 Load Balancer in the Source domain so on the Target domain Exchange server where I am running the command I edit the Host file so outlook.company.com points to the Source CAS server IP, but I still get the exact same error.

Any ideas please !!

Seemingly successful install of Exchange 2013 SP1 turns into many errors in event logs after upgrade to CU7

$

I have a new Exchange 2013 server with plans to migrate from my current Exchange 2007 Server. I installed Exchange 2013 SP1 and the only errors I saw in the event log seemed to be long standing known issues that did not indicate an actual problem (based on what I read online). I updated to CU7 and now lots of errors have appeared (although the old ones seem to have been fixed so I have that going for me). Currently the Exchange 2013 server is not in use and clients are still hitting the 2007 server.

Issue 1)

After each reboot I get a Kernel-EventTracing 2 error.  I cannot find anything on this on the internet so I have no idea what it is.

Session "FastDocTracingSession" failed to start with the following error: 0xC0000035

I did read other accounts of this error with a different name in the quotes but still can’t tell what this is or where it is coming from.

Issue 2)

I am still getting 5 MSExchange Common 106 errors even after reregistering all of the perf counters per this page:

https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2870416?wa=wsignin1.0

One of the perf counters fails to register using the script from the link above.

But that one seems unrelated to the ones that still throw errors.  Three of the remaining five errors are (the forum is removing my spacing between the error text so it looks like a wall of text - sorry):

Issue 3)

I appear to have some issues related to the healthmailboxes.  I get MSExchangeTransport 1025 errors for multiple healthmailboxes.

SMTP rejected a (P1) mail from 'HealthMailbox23b10b91745648819139ee691dc97eb6@<my domain>.local' with 'Client Proxy <my server>' connector and the user authenticated as 'HealthMailbox23b10b91745648819139ee691dc97eb6'. The Active Directory lookup for the sender address returned validation errors. Microsoft.Exchange.Data.ProviderError

I reran setup /prepareAD to try and remedy this but I am still getting some.

Issue 4)

I am getting an MSExchange RBAC 74 error.

(Process w3wp.exe, PID 984) Connection leak detected for key <my domain>.local/Admins/Administrator in Microsoft.Exchange.Configuration.Authorization.WSManBudgetManager class. Leaked Value 1.

Issue 5)

I am getting MSExchange Assistants 9042 warnings on both databases.

Service MSExchangeMailboxAssistants. Probe Time Based Assistant for database Database02 (c83dbd91-7cc4-4412-912e-1b87ca6eb0ab) is exiting a work cycle. No mailboxes were successfully processed. 2 mailboxes were skipped due to errors. 0 mailboxes were skipped due to failure to open a store session. 0 mailboxes were retried. There are 0 mailboxes in this database remaining to be processed.

Some research suggested this may be related to deleted mailboxes however I have never had any actual user mailboxes on this server. If they are healthmailboxes or arbitration mailboxes that might make sense but I am unsure of what to do on this.

Issue 6)

At boot I am getting an MSExchange ActiveSync warning 1033

The setting SupportedIPMTypes in the Web.Config file was missing. Using default value of System.Collections.Generic.List`1[System.String].

I don't know why but this forum is removing some of my spacing that would make parts of this easier to read.

We have recently moved from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2013. None of the security groups came over as mail enabled. I was not part of the project, so I am coming into this with no knowledge of the steps taken to accomplish the migration. Is there a way to enable mail on those pre-existing security groups? If so, any help/links is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Migrating all emails from an IMAP-server to a Shared Mailbox at Exchange 2013

$

Hi,

We are currently running an Exchange Server 2013, and we're in the process of migrating a couple of imap accounts to this server (they're running on a completely different server as we speak).

I've been looking on the internet for the best solution, but can't really find any "official" way to go. We're trying to avoid having to do all the inboxes manually and/or letting the users setup the new mailbox and "drag and drop" the old emails that they want saved.

So, is there any sort of migration tool where I can specify ip-address, username and password for an imap account and it will connect and just pick everything up? Or some tool that puts all the emails into a database and then pushes it into the exchange account?

The idea is to be able to push out the new inboxes to whoever should have it (through AD), and all the old emails are still there.

Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Anton
