Seemingly successful install of Exchange 2013 SP1 turns into many errors in event logs after upgrade to CU7

I have a new Exchange 2013 server with plans to migrate from my current Exchange 2007 Server. I installed Exchange 2013 SP1 and the only errors I saw in the event log seemed to be long standing known issues that did not indicate an actual problem (based on what I read online). I updated to CU7 and now lots of errors have appeared (although the old ones seem to have been fixed so I have that going for me). Currently the Exchange 2013 server is not in use and clients are still hitting the 2007 server.

Issue 1)

After each reboot I get a Kernel-EventTracing 2 error.  I cannot find anything on this on the internet so I have no idea what it is.

Session "FastDocTracingSession" failed to start with the following error: 0xC0000035

I did read other accounts of this error with a different name in the quotes but still can’t tell what this is or where it is coming from.

Issue 2)

I am still getting 5 MSExchange Common 106 errors even after reregistering all of the perf counters per this page:

https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2870416?wa=wsignin1.0

One of the perf counters fails to register using the script from the link above.

66 C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\Setup\Perf\InfoWorkerMultiMailboxSearchPerformanceCounters.xml

But that one seems unrelated to the ones that still throw errors.  Three of the remaining five errors are (the forum is removing my spacing between the error text so it looks like a wall of text - sorry):

Issue 3)

I appear to have some issues related to the healthmailboxes.  I get MSExchangeTransport 1025 errors for multiple healthmailboxes.

SMTP rejected a (P1) mail from 'HealthMailbox23b10b91745648819139ee691dc97eb6@<my domain>.local' with 'Client Proxy <my server>' connector and the user authenticated as 'HealthMailbox23b10b91745648819139ee691dc97eb6'. The Active Directory lookup for the sender address returned validation errors. Microsoft.Exchange.Data.ProviderError

I reran setup /prepareAD to try and remedy this but I am still getting some.

Issue 4)

I am getting an MSExchange RBAC 74 error.

(Process w3wp.exe, PID 984) Connection leak detected for key <my domain>.local/Admins/Administrator in Microsoft.Exchange.Configuration.Authorization.WSManBudgetManager class. Leaked Value 1.

Issue 5)

I am getting MSExchange Assistants 9042 warnings on both databases.

Service MSExchangeMailboxAssistants. Probe Time Based Assistant for database Database02 (c83dbd91-7cc4-4412-912e-1b87ca6eb0ab) is exiting a work cycle. No mailboxes were successfully processed. 2 mailboxes were skipped due to errors. 0 mailboxes were skipped due to failure to open a store session. 0 mailboxes were retried. There are 0 mailboxes in this database remaining to be processed.

Some research suggested this may be related to deleted mailboxes however I have never had any actual user mailboxes on this server. If they are healthmailboxes or arbitration mailboxes that might make sense but I am unsure of what to do on this.

Issue 6)

At boot I am getting an MSExchange ActiveSync warning 1033

The setting SupportedIPMTypes in the Web.Config file was missing. Using default value of System.Collections.Generic.List`1[System.String].

I don't know why but this forum is removing some of my spacing that would make parts of this easier to read.

Certificate revoked after applying CU7. Im totally dead in the water...hope someone can help...

hi all,

So today, like an idiot, I decided to follow Microsofts advice which states that all customers with Exchange 2013 SP1 should update to CU7. So I did, and now my whole organization in dead. Now when I try to access OWA or even my desktop Outlook I get an error that the servers certificate is revoked. Im poking around IIS, but don't know it well enough to know what to do. When I test the connection settings on the default website or the OWA site I get this -

The server is configured to use pass-through authentication with a built-in account to access the specified physical path. However, IIS Manager cannot verify whether the built-in account has access. Make sure that the application pool identity has Read access to the physical path. If this server is joined to a domain, and the application pool identity is NetworkService or LocalSystem, verify that <domain>\<computer_name>$ has Read access to the physical path. Then test these settings again.

My Echange Server self sighned certificate is valid, my owa certificate is valid. Everything was fine until I ran CU7.

I don't know IIS that well, and I don't know what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Exchange 2013 EAC coexistence with Exchange 2007

Dear All,

I have an exchange organization comprized of single Exchange 2007 SP3 UR 15 running on Win2008 SP2 and two recently installed Exchange 2013 SP1 CU7 with CAS and Mailbox role running on Win 2012 R2.

Imidiantly after Exchange 2013 install, I am not able to login to Exchange 2013 EAC. When I enter my credentials domain\username, the EAC page simpli dose a quick refresh and I am back where I started.

I have tryid mutiple UTLs to access EAC page, such as:

https://localhost/ecp?ExchClientVer=15

https://localhost/ecp?ExchClientVer=14

https://localhost/ecp

Each of them show the same result, a page gets refreshet. I have tryid to move my Exchange Organization user mailbox to Exchange 2013 to see if that helps but the result.

I also noticed that OWA dosent work for mailboxes that are on Exchange 2013, they are redirected to Exchange 2007 even thou they are on Exchange 2013.

Any idea on this one?

Thank you

b.

Mailbox Move: Version error with 2010 SP3 and 2013 CU1

$

Hey there

I have a Small Business Server 2011 with Exchange 2010 SP3 installed. As with the release of Exchange Server 2013 CU1 I want to migrate to 2013. I am following a technet blog post (http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2010/08/10/3410619.aspx) to migrate Cross Org and Cross Forest. This is what I do:

Prepare-MoveRequest: works like a charm, user gets created in target forest and shows up in 2013 Mailbox Migration Console ("Migrate to this forest") in ECP.

Second I try to migrate the mailbox:

New-MoveRequest -Identity "DN or UPN of User in Target Forest" -RemoteLegacy -TargetDatabase "Mailbox Database Name" -RemoteGlobalCatalog"FQDN of Source DC" -RemoteCredential $remote -TargetDeliveryDomain "Target domain name"

The output is the following:

RemoteLegacy moves must involve Exchange 2010 or lower versions only.

I understand that this used to happen without SP3 and CU1, but why would I still get this message after upgrading? I also tried to move the mailbox from the other side (legacy exchange server):

New-MoveRequest -Identity "UPN" -Outbound -Remotehostname "TargetMailServer" -RemoteTargetDatabase "DB"  -RemoteCredential $remote -TargetDeliverydomain "domain"

Output is the following:

The remote server doesn't support client 'legacy exchange fqdn' version (14.3.123.2 caps:05FEFF). Missing functionality: 'TenantHint'.

This confuses me. SP3 should be 14.3.123.4 (which is the version for all server roles in EMC).

Any idea why this happens?

Failing installation - Missing system mailbox accounts

$

I had installed Exchange 2013 SP1 and it seemed to be working correctly. I installed CU7 and everything fell apart. Massive errors all over the place. I gave up and removed all mailboxes, removed the databases, and uninstalled Exchange 2013.  I then went into ADUC and manually removed the remaining system mailboxes.

I reloaded a brand new install of Server 2012 R2 (same name as previous exchange 2013 install) and I went to install Exchange 2013 again.  I ran it from the GUI and did not run /PrepareSchema or /PrepareAD in advance.  My understanding was that running the GUI would do this and since the prepare schema switch in particular is unnecessary since the schema was already updated from the previous install I did not worry about it.

Install fails with:

Error:

The following error was generated when "$error.Clear();

          if ( ($server -eq $null) -and ($RoleIsDatacenter -ne $true) )

          {

            Update-RmsSharedIdentity -ServerName $RoleNetBIOSName

          }

        " was run: "Microsoft.Exchange.Management.Tasks.RmsSharedIdentityUserNotFoundException: RMS Shared Identity user FederatedEmail.4c1f4d8b-8179-4148-93bf-00a95fa1e042 not found.

   at Microsoft.Exchange.Configuration.Tasks.Task.WriteError(Exception exception, ErrorCategory category, Object target, Boolean reThrow, String helpUrl)

   at Microsoft.Exchange.Configuration.Tasks.Task.WriteError(Exception exception, ErrorCategory category, Object target, Boolean reThrow)

   at Microsoft.Exchange.Management.Deployment.UpdateRmsSharedIdentity.Link()

   at Microsoft.Exchange.Management.Deployment.UpdateRmsSharedIdentity.InternalProcessRecord()

   at Microsoft.Exchange.Configuration.Tasks.Task.<ProcessRecord>b__b()

   at Microsoft.Exchange.Configuration.Tasks.Task.InvokeRetryableFunc(String funcName, Action func, Boolean terminatePipelineIfFailed)".

So yes the federated mailbox referenced above does not exist.  As I said I thought the install would have run the /PrepareAD steps and created it.  So I try and run the setup /PrepareAD myself to generate the system mailboxes and that fails:

PS C:\Users\administrator.mydomain.local\Downloads\Exchange2013cu7> .\setup /PrepareAD  /IacceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms

Exchange 2013 Server Certificates Question

Good Morning,

Have a question about the Certs. Does Exchange server have any issues with Wildcard Certs like Lync Server Edge does? Lync Edge server doesn't like Wildcard servers and it's not recommended to use them in the Lync Deployment. Is it the same for your external Cert for an Exchange CAS? I am currently upgrading our Exchange 2010 Hybrid CAS to Exchange 2013 and wanted to make sure I could use our WildCard Cert.

Thank in advance,

Aaron

Hi Members,

Presently i have an Exchange 2013 CU1 DAG with two mailbox servers running on Windows server 2012.

We need to upgrade our Exchange to 2013 CU7 with two mailbox servers in DAG running on Windows 2012 R2.

I have learnt that members of DAG should be of the same Operating system level,

is it possible that i can upgrade my Exchange 2013 DAG running on 2012 to 2012R2 ?

Kind regards

Problems with installing service pack 3 on Exchange 2010

I tried installing service pack 3 on Exchange 2010 SP1 today. The setup went through all of the Readiness Checks with no problems. However, the setup process failed at Hub Transport Role. See below: It seems it can't find a certificate. I believe this has something to do with the recent certificate upgrade I needed to do. My original certificates were about to expire and I renewed them by running 'fix my network'. When I checked the app log, I found warning messages saying the certificate is about to expire. The thumb print matches the one in the error message. The error message I see now is
The Module DLL C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\ClientAccess\Owa\auth\exppw.dll failed to load. Event ID is 2280. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

We're in the middle of a large public folder migration, but we have an error on which we cannot continue.

Our environment is large:

Exchange 2013 HA With tow servers

Hi all, I will implement Exchange 2013 email infrastructure.

I have two Data Centers directly connected With 10Gb of bandwidth.

I need to mount an Exchange 2013 infrastructure in HA, but only two servers.

I thought mount two servers with DAG and the two roles (FE and BE).

Users accessing externally use a unique name with two DNS pesos (mail.consotos.com), if the first DNS does not work, solve the second, which will be in another data center.
What for it would need two public IPs?

What is not as do the HA for client connections internally. Is it by DNS? How do you do it?
