Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013 Coexist / Migration

I have installed Exchange 2013 in my Single Server 2010 Environment. We have a small user environment (about 20 Mailboxes).

The install went fine, I am able to see the 2010 server in my 2013 ECP.

I also moved 1 mailbox from the 2010 to the 2013 DB, no problems.

I was also able to receive email both internal and external addresses got through.

The problem i am seeing is that I am not able to send email from the exchange 2013 mailbox, both internal and external emails are not going through.

The SMTP send connector shows that the Scoping Source Server is set to my exchange 2010 server. but nothing is going through.

If i run: Get-TransportService | get-queue (on the 2013 install) i get:

EXCHANGE-VM\5              SmtpRelay... Retry  8            0        Normal    0              site:default-first-sit...

Can someone help me out as i am not an exchange wizard but tend to muddle my way through.

Update: i started receiving Delay responses on the Exchange 2013 mailbox:

451 4.4.0 Primary target IP address responded with: "451 5.7.3 Cannot achieve Exchange Server authentication."
