Configuring a namespace

$

Hello.

I have three servers all running Windows Server 2012 in a domain called xyz.com. The 1st server is a domain controller, the 2nd server hosts Exchange Server 2013 mailbox role and the 3rd server hosts Exchange Server 2013 Client Access role. However, I would prefer my mailboxes to have a different namespace from the domain name. For instance, jsmith@xyz.co.uk and not jsmith@xyz.com.

What do I need to configure? Please help!

Exchange Send connector to use DNS for mail route

Hi,

I have an Exchange 2010 single box with all three roll configured.

I have configured two DNS ip on my exchange server. One is of internal DNS & second IP is Internet enabled which I NAT with public IP.

I do not have any public mx record on ISP.

I want to check mail flow from my organization to public mail e.g. hotmail, gmail etc.

I have created a Internet send connector with "Use DNS to route mail" settings.

mails are not getting out from queue. error comes. 451.4.4.0 .

Do I need to make any settings in my internal DNS.

Thanks in Advance

Can anyone able to provide some suggestion for consider ?

Ive looked into all the permissions in AD the PS is running in elevated mode

The "inheritable permissions" is checked on all OU's and Objects involved in this migration.

I asked the Client to retire a 2003 Domain Controller that I thought was the culprit (Schema Mismatch errors).

the PS ran leading up to this error.

Exchange 2007 to 2013 multisite migration

$

Hi All,

Let me explain my current architecture:

Site A: 1 Exchange 2007 HUB/CAS and 1 Exchange 2007 MBX

SiteB: Same as site A

Site C: 1 Exchange 2013 CAS and 1 Exchange 2013 Mailbox server

Basically I have to consolidate the exchange 2007 infrastructure into the exchange 2013 migrating the mailboxes.

Said this, right now i can see all mailboxes from the 2013 and the mail flow is working.

My question is related to the auto discovery service.

In Site A the SCP is pointing the fqdn of the 2007 HUB/CAS in site A

In Site B the SCP is pointing the fqdn of the 2007 HUB/CAS in site B

Is gonna be right if i change the SCP pointing the new Exchange 2013 CAS on site C?

Moreover, i tried to configure from site B a test mailbox which resides in exchange 2013 and outlook said that cannot access to server, i think because the exchange 2007 CAS cannot dialog properly with the exchange 2013 mailbox server, is this correct?

Thanks,

Cheers,

Dario

Setup Failed "Authorization Manager Check failed in preparing Files"

We have found a consistent issue with upgrading from CU2 to CU3, so thought I would share.

Setup is failing on our Mailbox Servers (WS2012 with E2013 CU2 installed)

Setup will start and fail:

[ERROR] The following error was generated when "$error.Clear(); <o:p></o:p>

                    & $RoleBinPath\ServiceControl.ps1 EnableServices Critical<o:p></o:p>

[02/15/2014 14:26:03.0805] [1] [ERROR] AuthorizationManager check failed.<o:p></o:p>

[02/15/2014 14:26:03.0805] [1] [ERROR] The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.

To Resolve this issue

manually enable Windows Services (they will all now be disabled)

Get-Service -Name WinMgmt, remoteregistry, W3svc, iisadmin | set-service -startuptype Automatic -whatif

What if: Performing operation "Set-Service" on Target "IIS Admin Service (iisadmin)".
What if: Performing operation "Set-Service" on Target "Remote Registry (remoteregistry)".
What if: Performing operation "Set-Service" on Target "World Wide Web Publishing Service (W3svc)".
What if: Performing operation "Set-Service" on Target "Windows Management Instrumentation (WinMgmt)".

Get-Service -Name WinMgmt, remoteregistry, W3svc, iisadmin | set-service -startuptype Automatic

Get-Service -Name WinMgmt, remoteregistry, W3svc, iisadmin | start-service

Get-Service -Name WinMgmt, remoteregistry, W3svc, iisadmin

Status   Name               DisplayName
------   ----               -----------
Running  iisadmin           IIS Admin Service
Running  remoteregistry     Remote Registry
Running  W3svc              World Wide Web Publishing Service
Running  WinMgmt            Windows Management Instrumentation

Now all 4 Services are running

Before attempting to re-run  - Check the registry for Watermarks keys under

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\MidFileCopy.

Delete the two keys you find here.

THen - open Windows Powershell and run

for($i=1;$i-gt0;$i++) { Set-Service -Name WinMgmt -StartupType Automatic }

This keeps the relevant services running during setup.

Now - re run your Setup /M:Upgrade /iacceptexchangeserverlicenseterms

Hope this helps!

Server02: Server 2012 Standard + Exchange 2013 Standard

Well I'm wondering the best way to Install Windows Updates.

Which Server first? the Passive or Active node of Databases?

because after a Windows Update there are reboots required, what is the best practise when installing Windows Updates.

Thank You!

Hi All,

I have the following script I am using to import PST files into Exchange2013 before moving the mailbox to O365. Needs to be done this way for company reasons

The problem is that the loop I have to check if the files have been uploaded never quits and just keeps running.

What am I missing?

Exchange 2013 and exchange 2007 mixed mode questions

$

I made my first attempt at migrating from 2007 to 2013 but ran into some problems. My 2013 CAS and MB servers are successfully installed along with their prerequisites (AD entries, external and internal DNS is active or ready to be, FW rules etc..). I'm at this point here in the Microsoft plan..

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-US/exdeploy2013/PrintChecklist?state=2284-W-CQCkAgIAQACACEEAAQAAAA~~

"Perform the switch over"

My questions are about behavior.

1. When I have everything setup correctly and DNS and the SCP's changed, the Webmail OWA site for all users will be the 2013 login interface, and after logging in will my 2007 users then see the 2007 OWA interface on my old CAS?, or will they access their 2007 MB using the 2013 interface?

2. There is a "backend imap4" service on my 2013 servers.  We will still have some 2007 mapi connected MB clients.  Do I need these services started to hand off 2007 mapi requests to the 2007 portion of the environment?

New-MailboxImportRequest -IsArchive Stalling

I am trying to import a pst  in an Archive using the New-MailboxImportRequest -FilePath and -Mailbox. I was on the RTM Exchange 2013 and was able to complete the command successfully. As this is a development box I then upgraded to the CM3 For Exchange 2013. Now I am having the issue of importing in to the Archive yet I can import with out the -IsArchive   with no issue.

When i do run it Gets stalled at Content Indexing I have also created the Group "ContentSubmitters"  as this forum suggested http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2807668/en-us   I am now going to try method 2. After I added the Group, the status went to Stalled at WriteCPU.  It then would go back to Stalled at Content Indexing after 5 Min.

Just trying to see if there is something that I am doing wrong, if this is an issue with CM3 as we are doing a big migration to the In-Place Archive.

Thanks in Advance.

Error (re)deploying Exchange 2013 sp1

$

My issue is a little different than most deploying Exchange 2013 SP1.

Scenario:

Monday morning I was given the green light to stop waiting for Exchange 2013 SP1 so we could deploy on a 2012 R2 server and just go ahead and deploy Exchange 2013 on a 2012 server.  I go through the process and everything is fine.

Tuesday morning I come in and discover Exchange 2013 SP1 is released.   We discuss it in IT and decide to just go ahead and remove Exchange 2013 from the 2012 server and start from scratch on a 2012 R2 server.  I go through the uninstall and everything is smooth.  I remove the two Exchange-related OU's from AD.  I remove the server from the domain and delete it (vm).  I build a new server 2012 R2 with the same name as the 2012 server and go about getting the pre-reqs for Exchange 2013 SP1 on it.  Trying to prepare the Schema results with:

Couldn't find the Enterprise Organization container. - There is a TechNet article that tells me to remove the two OU's related to Exchange but I stated above, I already have.

I can try installing Exchange 2013 RTM on server 2012 R2 and then upgrading to SP1 but is that supported vs deploying from the SP1 package? (this worked in a test environment where we mirrored our issue)

Exchange Server 2013 SP1 Install on Windows Server 2012 R2

Installed CU3 on a CU1 Exchange 2013 Server and Now Have to Keep Restarting Transport Service Every 15 Mins

$

Hello

I was running Exchange Server 2013 CU1 on a Windows Server 2012 server and decided to update it to CU3.

The first attempt led to a failure due to the fact that I had to first uninstall KB2874216: https://dirteam.com/blogs/davestork/archive/2013/09/25/failed-exchange-server-2013-cu2-install-due-to-security-update-2874216.aspx

This also left all the Exchange services disabled again so I had to re-enable them all in services.

After CU3 said it was successfully installed I restarted the server but then realised that external email seemed to stop coming in.

If I telneted to the server on port 25 it said

421 4.3.2 Service not available

If I restart the transport service then it works for a short while (about 15 minutes) and then goes back to saying service unavailable.

I have had to write a script and add a scheduled task to restart the transport service every 15 minutes to keep mailflow working.

I then decided to set up a new server with CU3 but after Exchange is installed on this second server it seems to have created 3 mailbox databases all of which are dismounted. If I try to create another database then I get this error:

An inconsistency in the Active Directory was detected: Database 'Mailbox Database RWS-MAIL1' is expected to be in a database availability group but the value for its MasterServerOrAvailabilityGroup property ('RWS-MAIL1') is not valid. This may be a defect in the product and this should be reported to Microsoft Product Support.

I have waited 24 hours and tried again but still get the same error and the database I tried to create appears there as well but all are dismounted.

Please can someone suggest anything I can try to resolve this.

I have one server where the transport service doesn't work properly and another where I can't create any mailboxes.

Before CU3 everything was working normally on the first single server.

Thanks

Exchange 2013 namespace

Hi,

I am about to migrate from 2010 to 2013, have installed 2013 single server (CAS,MBX) on a exchange2013.domain.com server. I configured all virtual directories and Outlook Anywhere internal and external urls to exchange.domain.com and the official certificate has been issued to exchange.domain.com and autodiscover.domain.com. Both exchange2013.domain.com and exchange.domain.com can be resolved by dns to same address, autodiscover.domain.com is not yet configured in dns.

ECP, OWA , mailbox creation and moves are working as supposed.

My question is regarding Outlook Anywhere, the only way I can connect from a client and Remote Connectivity Analyzer is by using exchange2013.domain.com as server address, but I want to use exchange.domain.com which is not bound to any hardware. I guess this will not be any problem after setting up the autodiscover in dns but I dont want to configure it before I know things are working as supposed. Shouldn't the client be able to find the user mailbox by the address configured as internal and external, that is exchange.domain.com?

Rpcping gives an 1722 error when trying with server and proxy exchange.domain.com but is ok when using server exchange2013.domain.com and proxy exchange.domain.com.

Regards,
Stefan
