Hi Guys,

I am attempting to install Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 on Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 with SP1. During the installation it gets to the Mailbox Role Transport Service I get the following error during installation:

Error:
The following error was generated when "$error.Clear();
          if ( ($server -eq $null) -and ($RoleIsDatacenter -ne $true) )
          {
            Update-RmsSharedIdentity -ServerName $RoleNetBIOSName
          }
" was run: "Database is mandatory on UserMailbox. Property Name: Database".

Does anyone have any idea's as to what is causing this issue?

Migration of 2010 to 2013 from one server to another

I have a customer running Exchange 2010 on a 2008 R2 VM in Hyper-V. We are planning a migration to a new 2012 VM and Exchange 2013.

The kicker is that the customer REALLY wants to keep the current server name.

Is there any way to do this? If it were a file server, that'd be a no-brainer. But somehow I have a feeling that Exchange won't want to have its hostname changed. I hope I'm wrong.

Is there anyway to migrate to a new server and Exchange version and keep the same hostname in the end?

Error 400 in IIS for some users, in coexisting mode exchange 2013/2010

Hello,

I completed all initial steps, and tried to switch dns-records to new Exchange 2013 nlb. After that I checked connectivity for test users in Remote Connectivity Analyzer, all tests were completed successfully. Also I checked OWA, and it was fine, redirect to old OWA without any troubles. In IIS log I found a lot of errors 400 for some external users, they couldn't connect from Outlook via Outlook Anywhere, and login to OWA, or get mail by Active Sync. Most users get code 200, and they didn't have any troubles, but some did. Users from one database might get errors, and might not. So I have to switch DNS-records back. Anyone have any ideas why this is happening?

We have next configuration:

Exchange 2010: 3 mailbox servers in DAG, 2 cas/hub in nlb. Outlook Anywhere Settings:

Server ClientAuthenticationMethod IISAuthenticationMethods SSLOffloading ExternalHostname
------ -------------------------- ------------------------ ------------- ----------------
cas1                        Basic {Basic, Ntlm}                    False owa.contoso.com

cas2                        Basic {Basic, Ntlm}                    False owa.contoso.com

Exchange 2013: 2 mailbox servers in DAG, and 2 cas in nlb. Outlook Anywhere AuthenticationMethod set to Basic

Dear Expert,

I need your consult  from customer question below.

Customer has used Exchange 2003, they have a problem from increasing user. They have the idea to implement the Exchange 2013. But they don’t want to quit the old version because their cost policy.

Another pain point, they have used MS. Outlook 2003, they know outlook 2003 cannot work together with Exchange 2013.

I need you to help

  1.       What’s the different Ex 2003 and Ex 2013?Benefit?Screenshot? How to migrate?
  2.       Why Outlook 2003 cannot work with Ex2013? Why outlook 2013 is better?
  3.       Pros and Cons to upgrade to Ex2013, what’s the customer should prepare.

Thanks in advance.

Concurrent move requests from exchange 2010 to 2013

Hi,

we're currently moving around 400 mailboxes from exchange 2010 to 2013. Setup consists of one exchange 2010 and two exchange 2013 servers. All users migrating have also archive mailbox. The move is about 100MBs per minute and there is only one concurrent request inprogress. All other requests are in queued.

We already changed all parameters regarding MRS service on all CAS servers in exchange organization.

Any idea what could be the problem or limitation?

Exchange 2013 & 2010 Co-Existence Inter-office mail flow issue

First post so please be merciful.

Exchange 2010 Setup is 2 CAS Servers, 2 Mailbox Servers in DAG. CAS Servers are load balanced with a Kemp LM 2200 Load Balancer in a single arm setup (e.g. Load Balancer is on the same subnet as Exchange servers). The whole company is on 2010.

Exchange 2013 Setup is two Multi-Role servers behind another Kemp LM 2200 Load Balancer. This is setup in a two-arm setup(e.g. Exchange servers are on non-routable subnet). Only myself and another admin account are on 2013.

PROBLEM: When I enable the 2013 servers, my 2010 servers attempt to send mail through these servers but fail and get stuck in the queue unable to reach the 2013 servers. I assume this is CAS mail flow balancing taking place but eventually the retries will fail completely.

How can I make it so Exchange 2010 servers only balance mail flow between 2010 servers and vice versa? Is that possible? If not any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi!

I have a exc2013 hosted environment and I would like to provide a solution similar with office365 where client users has only one login. (single sign on). So I believe that something must exist between client AD and hosted AD.

How could it be possible?

Public Folder Migration Fails from Exchange 2007 to 2013

I am attempting to sync public folders between Exchange 2007 and Exchange 2013.  All the data has been copied over to the Exchange 2013 server but I am getting an error when creating the folders and their permissions.

I saw a previous thread which looked similar and I have set the bad item limit to one million as well as set mail-disable on the source public folders but I am still receiving these errors.

I set the following commands

Get-PublicFolderMigrationRequest | Set-PublicFolderMigrationRequest -baditemlimit 1000000

Get-PublicFolderMigrationRequest | Resume-PublicFolderMigrationRequest

and on the source mailbox server:

Get-publicfolder \Non_IPM_subtree -Recurse | Disable-MailPublicFolder

Exch 2013 - placement of the DAG user account

I'm getting ready to create my first DAG adn see I need to create a disabled user account. Our Exchange servers reside in a child domain, but i see all the systemmailboxes reside in the forest root domain.

Should the DAG accoutn be created in the forest root, or the Exchange server domain?

Outlook continually asks for password

Exchange 2013 CU2 on Server 2012.  Currently mixed with Exchange 2010.  Moved my test mailbox to 2013 and Outlook 2013 continually pops up asking for the password.

Based on another thread I tried:

Get-OutlookAnywhere -Server emsrv-Exch1.emcc.edu | Set-OutlookAnywhere -ExternalClientAuthenticationMethod NTLM

But that did not help.  Manually changing the client from Anonymous to NTLM helped but I don't want to have to manually change everyone's client.  Is there a server setting I can set or maybe a GPO to deploy for the client?

Exchange 2013 Move-DatabasePath tries to move mailbox database on Exchange 2007 server

$

Here's a little background.  We just installed Exchange 2013,and want to move the mailbox database from the C:\ drive to another drive; let's call this Exchange 2013 server EXC2.  We're planning on moving the mailboxes after the database is moved to a new drive.

The Exchange 2007 is still running; let's call the Exchange 2007 server, EXC1.

When attempting the Move-databasepath command on EXC2, the Exchange 2013 server, we get an error that states that the database cannot be found on exc1, the Exchange 2007 server.  That error is correct because the database is on EXC2, Exchange 2013, and not on exc1.

Even though the EMS is running on the Exchange 2013 server and says that it is connected to the 2013 server, it attempts to perform the move on the 2007 server.

Here is a clip from the EMS

The operation couldn't be performed because object 'Mailbox Database 2065386436.edb' couldn't be found on
'Exchange 2007 FQDN.
    + CategoryInfo          : NotSpecified: (:) [Move-DatabasePath], ManagementObjectNotFoundException
    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : EBBBD516,Microsoft.Exchange.Management.SystemConfigurationTasks.MoveDatabasePath
    + PSComputerName        :Exchange 2013 FQDN

Anyone seen this before where the database move attempts to move the database on another server and says the database can't be found?  And has anyone fixed it?

Thanks,
Paul

cannot remove corrupted mailbox after manually removing exchange with adsi edit and reinstalling it?

Hi,

I installed exchange 2013. The installation went bad I had to uninstall it manually from ADSI edit, then deleted the VM. I installed exchange 2013 once again. I log into ecp, I find under recipients the old mailboxes created with the old exchange server. when I try to delete them or move them, the following error shows:

The object domain/Users/someuser has been corrupted, and it's in an inconsistent state. The following validation errors happened:
Database is mandatory on UserMailbox.

digging around on the net, I followed this link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2702446?wa=wsignin1.0

but I noticed that my homeMDB is not set.

also following this link: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd535374(EXCHG.80).aspx

I noticed that I dont have anything under this location in adsi edit, while it states that there are some child objects

config...\config...domain\services\microsoft exchange\org-name\administrative groups\ex...admin..groups id\servers\mailbox\informationstore

Should I have ran setup /prepschema and setup /prepad, i didn't because in MS documentation it stated that if the account is a member of enterprise admin and schema admins the schema and AD and Domain preparation would be done by the wizard.

If its partially prepared, can I run them commands again without causing problems?

I can create new users just fine, all I want is to delete these recipients and create a new working ones. also I want to know is my exchange setup right, because I don't want to face major problems when we go live.

its been 3 weeks hitting my head against the wall, help please.

I'm in deep trouble

I installed Exchange 2013 on a 2012 Server in a Server 2003 forest.  All went well except that I could not login to the Exchange control panel.  Out of frustration I made the decision to just reinstall a fresh copy of Server 2012 and then reinstall Exchange 2013.  Setup now fails saying I need to run in recovery mode from PowerShell.  I tried this, but one of the long list of prerequisites states that it needs access to the log file and mailbox databases which no longer exist.  What changes do I need to make to the Active Directory (I assume) or the 2003 Exchange server to remove recollection of a previous Exchange 2013 install?

Exchange Server 2010 SP3 RU3 - OWA - Out of Office issue

Hi,

We have just upgraded out test lab to Exchange 2010 SP3 RU3.

We have 2 CAS-servers and 2 Mailbox-servers. All servers er fully patched.

Question - reason for upgrading is that our Production environment is running Exchange 2010 SP2 RU7, and we have issues with IE 11(light mode only) which is resolved in SP3 RU3. But we have discovered a another issue after upgrading.

After upgrading Exchange,  IE 11 is fixed at the login screen, and we can now choose which login methode we want to use, so this is good.

But if you login with IE 11 chosse Options > See all Options > Organize E-mails > Automatic Replies - then the page is blank.

If you choose to use Firefox or Chrome everything is working correctly..

Does any else have the same problem?

[Exchange 2013] Update to CU3

Hello,

I have something very strange with my CU3.
I download the “Exchange2013-x64-cu3.exe” and when I launch the setup in GUI I see correctly “Welcome … Exchange Server 2013 CU3 …”

When I launch in powershell for update the schema I have :
Welcome to the unattended Setup of Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 with Cumulative Update 2

After the update of schema the version of schema is always the same : “15281 (CU2)” and not 15283 (CU3)

Is it normal ?

Thank’s very much.

Stéphane.
