Exchange 2010 migration to Exchange 2013

Currently we are using Exch2010 installed in the server. But the client side Outlook is configured using POP3.

We will replace current Exch2010 server hardware with new one.

We are going to migrate the Exch2010 to Exch2013 on the new server hardware.

My question is, how about the client Outlook setting? Is there any additional setting that need to be done for us to use the exchange services on the Outlook client side?

Exchange 2013 CU9 Installation Issues {SOLVED}

$

Okay, so I think I've got a bit of a mess here.  After initially trying to install Exchange 2013 RTM, (and set up a DAG), on two Windows 2012 (VMware) servers, I then attempted to install CU9, (which failed),From there, I ended up getting things to the point that I decided that since this is a new production Exchange environment, (all email data still on current Exchange 2007 Server,) I'd just scrap the whole thing and start over from the ground up.

I had everything ready to go again and I just decided to install CU9 right out of the gate, (which is probably what I should have done the first time).  I received an error that Exchange was in an inconsistent state and that I would need to install using the recovery mode:

"Error: Setup previously failed while performing the action "DisasterRecovery". You can't resume stup by performing the action "Install"."

From there, I open a cmd prompt "with admin" and run Setup.exe /Mode:RecoverServer /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms

This also failed.  Among the errors in the log file was "An error ocurred while setting shared config DC. Error: The call to Microsoft Exchange Active Directory Topology service on server 'TopologyClientTcpEndpoint (localhost)' returned an error. Error details Active Directory server  is not available. Error message: Active directory response: The supplied credential is invalid.."

It's now to the point that I can't even "uninstall" this failed installation of Exchange 2013 CU9.  I now get "Error: Setup previously failed while performing the action "DisasterRecovery". You can't resume setup by performing the action "Uninstall"."

I'd like to try to not have to start all over with my VM's, (because, to be honest, I don't think I'll get a clean install even after doing this.  I suspect there's something in my AD that's "leftover" from the previous setup.  I made everything the same with my new VM's, (Names, disk, memory, CPU, etc...)

Thinking I may need to open a case with MS on this one.  Any ideas?

Storage allocation for Exchange 2013 Database drive

Hi Team,

Please suggest storage assigning to virtual machine (MBx Servers database drive) is it in RAW format or VMDK keeping in mind for any other database migrations or movement in future.

We are in process of migrating Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013, we have installed and configured 2 Mailbox servers and 2 CAS Servers for Exchange 2013 all are in MS fail-over cluster, all are in hosted single shared cluster disk on Hyper-V.

We would like to know how to assign LUN to Mailbox server to store databases.

Is it on RAW or VHDX Fixed ?

Will it be on Shared Cluster or any other option ?

Could any one suggest on this so that I can proceed further for allocation of drive.

Thanks

Hello,

i´m migrating our exchange 2010 standalone server to exchange 2013 (two servers with mailbox and cas role and dag).

Last week i found the get-healthreport command. So i execute this command on both server to check if my installations are correct.

But i found on both server that the network Healthset is unhealthy. Also i found in the Microsoft eventviewer this error.

receive side scaling should be activated

So i ask Dr. Google but i found nothing to fix my problem. I tried to disable netsh int tcp set global chimney=disabled

and netsh int tcp set global rss=disabled  and enabled SR-IOV for the virtual network card.

But nothing helped.

So, have somebody an idea?

Exchange Co-existance Traffic Flow Awareness

Hey guys, we are working on migrating our environment from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013.  On initial co-existence, how does the Exchange 2013 CAS know where the 2007 CAS is to proxy connections to? Is it done as a DNS lookup or AD object lookup? If it's a DNS lookup, our Exchange 2013 is mail.contoso.com, and our Exchange 2007 is legacy.contoso.com, how does the Exchange 2013 CAS know to forward to legacy.contoso.com instead of some other address?  I've been digging for an answer to this but can't quite find the answer.

Move Exchange to another AD Site

Hi Guys

I have Exchange 2010 SP3 single server deployment. I want to move this Exchange Server to another Active Directory site with a different subnet.

Can I change the IP Address and Subnet Mask on this server to the new site??? Would Exchange break? Is this supported?

Trying to Uninstall: An incomplete installation was detected. Run setup to complete Exchange installation.

Hello All...

Trying to uninstall Exchange 2013 CUv2 v2. I've moved all the Mailboxes, Arbitration, Discovery, Public Folder, etc to another working server. Everything was moved over fine. Uninstall via the control panel proceeded as normal, then just failed. No choice but to exit. Now when trying to recover, and uninstall again....I cannot. I get the vague error of "An incomplete installation was detected.  Run setup to complete Exchange installation."

Not that I want to, but tried to reinstall, but can't do that either.

I know it's a last resort and not supported, but can I just use ASDIEdit ,and manually remove the server references? If so, what is a good guide on the procedure....? I don't want spend hours pouring over setup logs and the registry if I don't have to- just want this removed from AD.

I've searched the net quite a bit on manual removal, but can't find a concise how-to...

Any help is appreciated ...Thanks

Exchange Hybrid - Calendar Sharing Separate Rule

Hello,

I am a Hybrid Exchange Scenario with two Exchange DAG on different Site. Everything works fine .. onboarding and Offboarding with different Endpoints

But i have one Problem with Calendar Sharing:

I have two SMTP Domain with different Certifcate. When i ran the Hybrid Wizard i think i do the mistake to click both domain.

When i am now look at "Organisation Relationship" i see something strange. The Application URI is FYDIBOHF25SPDLT.domainB.com but the Autodiscover Endpoint ist autodiscover.domainA.com..

I don't know why the Wizard do this... When i want to change this in two separate Rules i get the following Message

The domains 'domainA.com', 'domainB.com' already exist in another organization relationship. Domains can only exist in one organization relationship.
To create an organization relationship with this domain, remove the domain from the other organization relationship.

Where i have to change this that i can split the Rules? Is there somethings else i have to do?

Thank for your help

Outlook failing to update profile after cross-forest migration

I am doing cross forest (Exchange 2013 to 2016) migration.

I have 2 forest abc.lan (Ex 2013) and 123.lan (Ex 2016).

For exchange 2013, Some of the users currently use outlook within domain (their computers are domain joined to abc.lan).

For  outside domain migrated users, all is good, they get standard message to restart outlook, and their profile get updated after restart automatically using Autodiscover record pointed to Exchange 2016 server.

But, I am getting problems with outlook machines joined to source server AD domain.

After migrating, I am getting the standard message that 'Microsoft Exchange administrator has made a change that requires you quit and restart Outlook', and when I restart outlook, After few minutes, outlook throws following error:

Can anyone suggest a solution for this problem.

Thanks in Advance.

Mixing Cumulative updates in Exchange 2013 Environment

Hi All,

I have inherited an Exchange Server at a remote site we acquired.  Its quite along way behind with both Windows Updates and Exchange CU's.  Now I know installing the latest CU is not a problem, but I was wondering would it be acceptable to simply build a new Exchange Server with the latest CU and migrate the mailboxes over?  Would this cause issues?

I would just prefer to build the server from scratch to best practice.

Cheers

Exchange 2013 OWA - Emails stuck in draft

$

We just brought online a new Exchange 2013 server in coexistence with Exchange 2007. We have been trying to send emails within OWA all day without any luck. All the messages keep going into Drafts. The email address being used was created on Exchange 2013 and is being sent to an email address in Exchange 2013. I have done all of the DNS changes within Exchange Admin Center as well as in the hosts file. I have also done what was suggested in this forum:

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/1813eec7-dc2b-40af-a3b0-1fd552f745e2/all-sent-emails-stuck-in-either-outbox-for-outlook-or-drafts-for-owa-on-new-exchange-2013?forum=exchangesvrclients

We have had not luck with this. Any other possibilities I could be missing?

Thank you,

Ryan

I try few steps by restarting the Exchange Mailbox Replication services but still no luck. When run the Exchange powershell command again to check the status. It will show "LoadingMessage" status and "CopyingMessage" status but after a while it will stuck at 25% and become "Queue" status again.

Did anyone facing this issue earlier? Appreciated your help on this. Thanks.
