Need help with the Certificates bit

$

I've done my cert req, sent it off, received it back and installed it. I know I've not completed the install, so not sure if its right. I'm a bit worried about a step before that though. Is there a way to inspect the certificate to see what domains and addresses are certified in that cert? or a way to go back into the ECP and see what domains / addresses the request was for? As it doesn't look like I can now I've completed the request with the cert that was supplied.

Trying to Uninstall: An incomplete installation was detected. Run setup to complete Exchange installation.

Hello All...

Trying to uninstall Exchange 2013 CUv2 v2. I've moved all the Mailboxes, Arbitration, Discovery, Public Folder, etc to another working server. Everything was moved over fine. Uninstall via the control panel proceeded as normal, then just failed. No choice but to exit. Now when trying to recover, and uninstall again....I cannot. I get the vague error of "An incomplete installation was detected.  Run setup to complete Exchange installation."

Not that I want to, but tried to reinstall, but can't do that either.

I know it's a last resort and not supported, but can I just use ASDIEdit ,and manually remove the server references? If so, what is a good guide on the procedure....? I don't want spend hours pouring over setup logs and the registry if I don't have to- just want this removed from AD.

I've searched the net quite a bit on manual removal, but can't find a concise how-to...

Any help is appreciated ...Thanks

Why doesn't Exchange 2013 install onto Server 2013 R2 configure Autodiscover ???

$

I can't believe it took me four months to get Outlook 2013 connected to my new Exchange Server 2013 sp1.  Granted I wasn't working on this problem full-time due to being over-medicated.  I went down many bogus troubleshooting paths and it wasn't until yesterday I came across

https://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/autodiscoverconfiguration.htm

and discovered that the Exchange 2013 sp1 install onto Server 2013 R2 did not configure Autodiscover.  Why not?  The install had all of the information needed to perform this task.  It's one of those gotchas that I've become so less tolerant of.  With my persecution syndrome, I suspect I'm seeing more of these gotchas from Microsoft being seeded into their installs in order to force us all onto their cloud.

Microsoft:  Why do you place this type of gotha into the installs of recent products?  I'm just asking.

I am trying to get our exchange server to exchange 2013. I am doing a transition with Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013.

Exchange Server 2003 is at SP2.  Server to temporarily run Exchange 2010 is Server 2012 Std.  I have the 2003 exchange in Native mode.  Domain and Forest are at 2003.  When I try to run setup /PrepareSchema on the server 2012 it fails with an error of cannot find file. Hello, we are beginning a client migration this weekend and I'm testing the PST Capture Console tool as recommended by O365. Communications have been set up properly and test good however after selecting the pst file to import and beginning the process. The import fails 15 minutes in with an error of "the agent was timed out in responding to the transfer request". Does anyone have any experience with this?

Migrate Existing servers from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013

$

Hi,

I am hoping I can get some feedback to what I am proposing to do to migrate to Exchange 2013.

I have 4 physical Exchange 2010 SP3 (Windows 2k8 R2) servers in a single DAG.  We will be migrating to Exchange 2013 (Windows 2k12 R2) with a single DAG.

I do not have any other physical servers to install Exchange 2013 on.

At a very high level I am wondering if I can remove 2 of the Exchange 2010 servers from the existing DAG and then rebuild them as Exchange 2013 in a new DAG.

I would then migrate the mailboxes from the Exchange 2010 servers to the new Exchange 2013 servers and finally rebuild the remaining 2 Exchange 2010 servers to Exchange 2013.

I know that the DAG Server maintenance scripts will not work correctly with only two members in a DAG.  So maintenance mode will be out the window until all 4 servers have been rebuilt to Exchange 2013.

Is there anything else that may cause a problem in what I am proposing to do.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated

Regards

Matthew Ridley

Exchange SP1 Edge Transport Install Error

$

Hi everyone,

I've successfully installed multiple Mailbox and CAS 2013 SP1 servers into an existing Exchange 2010 environment.

However, when I get to the Edge Transport role on a separate server, at step 7 of 9, it throws the following error:

Error:

The following error was generated when "$error.Clear();
new-ExchangeServer" was run: "Value cannot be null.
Parameter name: Cannot get child of ADObjectId:	this is a GUID based ADObjectId.".

Any ideas what could be causing this? I haven't been able to find anything of significance while searching around...

Thanks!

Hi there,

Environment: Exchange 2013 CU12 (fresh install)
Command: "Setup.exe /PrepareSchema /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms" --> Successful
Command: "Setup.exe /PrepareAD  /ON:"Company A" /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms" -->
Error: Could not find the default Administrative Group 'Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)

A check via adsiedit shows the correct creation of "CN=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)".
Maybe an permission issue?

The AD did contain an old Exchange 2003 environment including an administrative Group from an orphaned SBS2003 Environment. The whole subtree CN=Microsoft Exchange was deleted before Setup

Please help!

Change the Internal URL for Exchange server 2010.

$

Hi Guys,

For the Migration of the Exchange server 2010 , I need to change the Internal URL for exchange services.

Current Setup: EX2010: CAS

                         EX2010B: Mailbox, HubTransport

At the Moment my Internal URL are like this.

https://svv-ex2010.domain.com/owa
https://svv-ex2010.domain.com/ecp
https://svv-ex2010.domain.com/OAB
https://svv-ex2010.domain.com/Micorsoft-Server-ActiveSync
https://svv-ex2010.domain.com/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml

and i am Planning to have more than 2 Client access server and since this is the migration of Exchange 2010 server. I want to change the Internal URL's with

https://mail.domain.com/owa
https://mail.domain.com/ecp
https://mail.domain.com/OAB
https://mail.domain.com/Micorsoft-Server-ActiveSync
https://mail.domain.com/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml

So for that I have created the DNS A Records with the Current Client Access ServerIP :192.168.1.10

I have also made the DNS-Resolve query to to check if i get the result or not and here is the Output.

PS C:\Users\test_admin> Resolve-DnsName imail

Name Type TTL Section IPAddress
---- ---- --- ------- ---------
mail.domain.com A 3600 Answer 192.168.1.10(Current Ex )
mail.domain.com A 3600 Answer 192.168.1.11 (In future)

so i think i am ready with the New Namespace. (mail.domain.com) and later i can assign this Name spaces to all the services.

But my Problem comes at the Point of SSL Certificate. For Internal Clients we are using Self Signed Certificate with Private CA.we have Internal AD CS Services.

the Current SSL certificate which is being used at the moment doesn't have themail.domain.com as SAN Name.

so I am bit confused with Whole Process, how should i start here.

As far as i understood i need to re-request the certificate and then use the new Certificate with new SAN Name: mail.domain.com.

and then change the Internal URL of the Exchange server.

Guys,Please Help me and give me some tips , My problem is really complicated for me. i dont want to disturb the running workflow, therefore i am trying to prepared for all small issue.

it will be really nice if you guys can give me some tips about requesting the New Certificate with Correct SAN name and change the Internal URL for the migration.
