Getting errors when I run any Exchange Public Folder commandlet

We are running Exchange 2013 migrating from Exchange 2007. The last thing that I need to do to complete the migration is to migrate the public folders. There seems to be an issue, when I run a public folder command (Get-PublicFolder) I get the following error. I found this article but it really doesn't help. In order to migrate these folders I need run the commands. Any assistance appreciated.

Exchange 2013 and 2007 coexistence with ISA 2006

Short and simple question: Should this configuration work, am I just missing something stupid or do we need to rethink the entire architecture?Should Exchange 2013 directly internet-facing CAS be able to redirect 2007 mailbox users to ISA-published Exchange 2007 OWA without double authentication in coexistence scenario?

I have a Exchange 2007 environment which works just fine:
- Two CAS servers and two mailbox servers
- OWA and AS are published to internet with an ISA 2006 gateway.
- ISA is configured to have FBA authentication on web listener, doing LDAP auth from two domains (the same domain where the Exchange servers are and an another domain in different forest) and delegating to Exchange as basic auth.
- On Exchange FBA is disabled for OWA, Basic and Integrated enabled.

Now we would like to introduce an Exchange 2013 server to the environment, switch client access over to it and have users accessing their OWA emails on the Exchange 2007 mailboxes before the mailboxes are transferred to Exchange 2013. ISA 2006 will be decommissioned together with the Exchange 2007 environment and Exchange 2013 will be directly internet facing, but at least the first attempt to get this to work failed.

We have two separate single-name certificates, let's call them mail.company.com and mail2007.company.com. The later one is for the legacy email, and first one is used and has been used for the actual client connections.

- mail.company.com is assigned to Exchange 2013 CAS, mail2007.company.com to ISA server listener.
- DNS records to mail.company.com are switched to point to Exchange 2013 CAS public IP, mail2007.company.com to ISA public IP.
- ISA rules were updated to accept the mail2007.company.com host name and multiple different authentication configurations were tried.
- Exhange 2007 OWA and other virtual directories were updated to use mail2007.company.com as the external URL.

I could get Exchange 2013 OWA to authenticate the user and forward the connection to ISA FBA, but with any configuration I couldn't get rid of double authentication. Disabling ISA FBA and letting client authenticate with Exchange directly didn't work out any better.

Mobile Devices Prompt for Password/Remote Connectivity Analyzer is Fine

$

I'm in the middle of migrating from Ex2007 to Ex2013. This is a simple setup with a single server running Ex2007. Port forwarding on the firewall redirects incoming port 443 to Ex2007 for activesync/owa, etc. Exchange 2013 has been installed and configured. Both are coexisting fine. I've moved one mailbox. Exchange 2013 has a valid wildcard SSL certificate.

Now, I change the port forward on the firewall to direct 443 to the new server instead of the old. Remote Connectivity Analyzer connects and verifies that everything is fine for both the migrated mailbox as well as mailboxes that are still on Ex2007. However, for all mailboxes (the migrated one as well as all of the ones still on Ex2007), iPhones repeatedly prompt for password. Entering your password does no good. If you remove the account from the iPhone and add it back then everything is fine. The problem is that we have about 100 phones and doing this to each will be a nightmare. I changed port forwarding back to the old server until we can figure this out. Has anyone else run into this issue? To emphasize, ActiveSync is working fine. I have also found that, instead of removing the Exchange account and adding it back to the iOS device, you can just go into account settings, change a field and save, causing the iOS device to re-verify. After that, you are fine. Any ideas?

Change external urls on existing deployment without user interruption

We've got a client who changed its Company Name just after the migration of 2010 => 2013.
All mailboxes are moved to 2013.  Now we need to change their external/internal urls without user interruption...

Current config:

    2 x Windows 2012 R2 + Exchange 2013 RU7 => 1 DAG => 2 databases (primary & archive)

External urls:
activesync.currentcompany.be
autodiscover.currentcompany.be

Internal urls:
Exchange2013.currentcompany.be

DNS records:
autodiscover SRV record for newcompanyname.be

Accounts:
Login@newcompanyname.be

New config:

Same servers

External urls:
activesync.newcompanyname.be
Internal urls:
exchange2013.newcompanyname.be

What is the best practice for this?

My domain is scooters.com.

I went into the godaddy console and put the identical a record and mx record into skateboards.com.

Which is another domain i own in the console.

I can access skateboards.com through owa as if it is scooters.com.

I can send and receive between scooters.com and skateboards.com.

however I cannot receive incoming email in skateboards.com from anywhere else.

Anyone in my organization can send mail with a skateboards.com email but can't receive replies.

They can send but not receive.

Hello,
access to most backend websites on the mailbox server logs asp.net Event ID 1310 A configuration error ocured.

Looking to the web.config file A reference to D:\Exchange\ClientAccess\SharedWebConfig.Config has been found, but this file did not exist on both servers MBX and CAS role. The Installdir has been set to D:\Exchange during Installation wizard. The setup did not log any error creating such a file to C:\ExchangeSetupLogs\ExchangeSetup.log.

Good day,

I am trying to install Exchange 2013 onto a server 2012 R2 in a 2008 forest level environment. During the installation process after the prerequisite analysis it errors out with this.

Error:

The forest functional level of the current Active Directory forest is not Windows Server 2003 native or later. To install Exchange Server 2013, the forest functional level must be at least Windows Server 2003 native.

I have confirmed my forest level is running at 2008 native. Any ideas?

Failed Exchange 2013 setup - catch 22 situation

Dear all,

Trying to install a new Exchange 2013 server here.

Launched the GUI setup, went through the various pre-requisites and launched into the meat of the matter. It seemed to work fine until I got  failure in the HubTransportRole.

Now I have an incomplete install.  Setup will not run in "normal" mode, instructing me to run in /m:RecoverServer mode. That generates two new errors:

[06.26.2014 07:39:36.0559] [1] [REQUIRED] The language pack bundle could not be found or is corrupt.
No idea where this is coming from - it's the very same server that passed pre-requisite checks a few minutes ago...

[06.26.2014 07:39:36.0569] [1] [REQUIRED] A Setup failure previously occurred while installing the HubTransportRole role. Either run Setup again for just this role, or remove the role using Control Panel.

Well that's what I am trying to recover from... I can't run setup to remove this role as it instructs me to use RecoverServer, yet RecoverServer instructs me to use normal setup... A bit of a catch22.

This is Exchange 2013sp1 on Server 2012R2.

Any suggestion / pointer most welcome

2. After resolving the Replication problem in AD, the first exchange server could not start the services.

3. I have now deployed a second Exchange server in the forest and running fine BUT cannot receive emails with error Authentication rejected by the smtp server.

4. Tried to normally uninstall the first exchange server, but giving error the stop the uninstallation.

5.NOW I want to manually remove this first exchange server and transfer the routing group connector to the second Exchange server.

IF NEED MORE CLARIFICATION ON THE PROBLEM PLEASE let me know

Your usual help is greatly appreciated in advance.

Backup ArcServe Exchange 2013 Document Level

We are in an hybrid environment of Exchange OnPremises and Exchange Online and in the OnPremises environment we have cohexistence of Exchange 2010 and Exchange 2013.

As a backup solution we have CA Arcserve Backup, that allow us to make a backup in document level of the exchange 2013 mailboxes.

We still can´t do the backup document level. In the logs files from the ca agent installed in the server, we found some MAPI errors.

We followed all the articles bellow, but without success.

We had a remote support from CA and they told us that we are facing a problem on the Exchange Server.

We ran the Test-MapiConectivity that returns Success.

Below of the links, follow the logs, if someone could help-me to diagose the MAPI on Exchange 2013, I will be vary glad.

"Sent" time showing on draft emails on Exch2013. Not when user moved to Exch 2010

$

Hi,

We have both Exchange 2010 and Exchange 2013 running in co-existence.

Exchange 2010, version 14.3 (build 123.4)
Exchange 2013, version 15.0 (build 913.22)

We finished migrating all users to Exchange 2013 some while back. All PF's are migrated too. Nothing is left running on Exchange 2010 and we were all ready to decommission this server.

Then some users started calling saying when they draft an email and save it without sending, they notice the draft will show a sent time in Outlook under the 'Sent' column. I can easily replicate this behavior.

So, I went to the Exchange 2010 server, created a new user and mailbox, logged into a PC and started Outlook. I created a few draft emails and under the 'Sent' column they show as "none". I then migrate the mailbox to Exchange 2013 and repeated the steps. I immediately get a sent time appear when closing and saving the draft item. The messages created whilst on Exchange 2010 remain untouched in my drafts with a sent time as "none". What is causing this?

When I migrate the mailbox back to Exch 2010 the issue goes away - new drafts appear with a sent time of "none", as expected.

What is causing this problem with Exchange 2013?

I am using Outlook 2010 14.0.7147.5001 with all non-MS add-ins removed. The issue on Exch 2013 happens when using OWA as well, so the type of client appears irrelevant to this issue.

Many thanks.

Unable to see additional owa and ecp configuration from ECP

Hello guys,

I have created additional OWA and ECP virtual directories for FBA usage. IIS is configured with additional web site on which these directories stored ( as virtual folders). Bindings for this site are restricted for NIC which is configured on related servers as secondary ( without default gateway configured and checklist to be published on DNS).

I have configured settings for these OWA and ECP using PowerShell. They work fine without any problem..... Users can login OWA, but....

When I open Exchange Control Panel , go to servers, virtual directories and click on these additional OWA and ECP, I am getting 500 Unexpected Error on the right pane or on the popup if double clicked. That means that I can do changes only using PowerShell.

Any ideas regarding this problem?

Good way to export those Outlook Rules from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013

$

Dear All ,

Currently i'm  doing a cross forest migration from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013

There are almost 7000 users in the 2007 environment who has plenty of rules in their outlook and this customer is much concerned about these outlook rules during this migration. He wants to make a bulk export and import of these rules.

Is there any good way through Powershell to export all these outlook  rules and import these rules in Exchange 2013

Can i achieve something with Get-InboxRule  if its supported in Exchange 2007 ?

I can  list out all the existing rules in Exchange 2013 environment but i have a doubt that  if this command is supported in Exchange 2007 ?

$mbx = Get-Mailbox; $mbx | Foreach { Get-InboxRule -Mailbox $_.DistinguishedName }

Any help is much appreciated.

Issues after Exchange CU8

Updating a client's mail server from CU7 to CU8 and an error at the end involving access denied to a certain folder caused a failure and we had to restore a backup and run the update again, this time it was successful. When we looked later we noticed that several of the folders under c:\program files\microsoft\exchange\v15\clientaccess have no owners now. We can manually set the ownership, but is this intentional?

ActiveSyncCTPMonitor probe unhealthy, along with a few others

$

Exchange 2013 is up and running (still in test mode) and I can process mail with POP, IMAP, Outlook Anywhere, and activesync (with my cellphone and tablet). Event logs are pretty normal except for the ProbeResult log. I see errors in there for ActiveSync, IMAP and POP and some others. I ran the get-serverhealth cmdlet and then followed the instructions in the knowledgebase articles to reset stuff in IIS.  I am at a loss what else to do. Everything seems to be working fine but I see those errors. (Maybe I shouldn't have looked in that log :)

Any suggestions? Thanks,

Lou
