Can some one explain me on Exchange server / CAL licesing & where I can find current cost information?
Exchange 2013 sp1 DAG problem on Wondows 2012 r2
Hi,
I have configured this on my servers. It seems to be working almost 100%.
When I look at server-databeses in ecp I see the DB is healthy both active and psssive.
When I run this (Get-DatabaseAvailabilityGroup) | ForEach {$_.Servers | ForEach {Test-ReplicationHealth -Server $_}}
I get DatabaseAvailabilty FAILED on both active and passife DB.
When I Switchover to the other sever I get no errors but in ca. 2 min it Switches back.
If I try to move mailbox from Exchange 2010 sp3 to Exchange 2013 sp3 I get
Data migrated:1.327 GB (1,425,379,174 bytes)
Migration rate:0 B (0 bytes)
Error:MigrationPermanentException: Error: Mailbox changes failed to replicate. Database 18475dc2-2111-4da6-854b-6583d42c9279 doesn't satisfy the constraint SecondCopy because the commit time 3/12/2014 12:17:49 PM isn't guaranteed by replication
time 1/1/0001 12:00:00 AM.
I admit that I had this configured before I installed SP3 :( Do I need to delete the DAG and create it again?
thanks.

Exchange 2013 what type of certificate needed
We have a new exchange 2013 environment. New one, built from scratch and starting with empty mailboxes, new AD. No connection to other older mailservers or AD needed
Final task is to implement SSL certificate. We have following domains/servers:
Internal usage: mailserver.domain.local
External usage: webmail.domain.com
Do I need a single domain SSL certificate or do I need a SAN/multiple domain certificate ? As it differs in price :-)

Core roles installed on one virtual server for roughly 200-300 mailboxes using Exchange 2010?
For a customer who is looking at keeping costs down, they are wondering whether setting up a virtualized Exchange 2010 server with all the core roles installed would be possible. So the mailbox, CAS and hub all on one virtual slice. The customer has around 200-300 mailboxes.
I know that its hard to give a guess for sizing, but I was wondering if a 4 core, 16 GB RAM build on Server 2012 would be sufficient, with the storage obvioulsy being SAN. I know this is dependant upon mailbox size and usage, but I don't have those numbers unfortunately. Would the 4/16 build be sufficient? Too much?
Any further information around this would be great. Thanks.
Movemailbox issue: new empty calendar folder gets created after mailbox move
Hi,
when doing mailbox moves between Exchange 2010 and Exchange 2013 (CU3 and SP1) and also between two Exchange 2013 SP1 servers we experience the following issue:
sometimes a new empty default calendar folder is being created after the mailboxmove completes. Out of 230 moved mailboxes 6 mailboxes experienced this issue. For some reason the existing calendar folder is changed to a user created folder and a new calendar folder gets being created. This causes some panic by the affected users, since they suddenly notice that their calendar is completely empty. The free/busy information other people see is also empty because they also see the empty calendar.
To correct the issue I have to manually move the items from the original calendar folder to the newly created calendar folder.
Any idea what might cause this? I don't have reproduction steps, it just happens at random during the mailbox move. The moverequest completes succesfully, no errors are reported and the movereport also doesn't contain any clues.

Internal URL for exchange autodiscover doesnt match the potential autodiscover url test results
Hi All,
Need your help.
Basically this is a new set up of Exchange 2013 server. When we test the auto discover from the remote analyzer tool, I get the log below:
1. when i run the command:Get-ClientAccessServer | Set-ClientAccessServer -AutoDiscoverServiceInternalUri
- I get this result :https://mail.domain.org.sg/AutoDiscover/AutoDiscover.xml which is supposed to be correct
-however the potential autodiscover any test i make is trying to resolve to https://domain.org.sg/AutoDiscover/AutoDiscover.xml or the website address
-our SSL certificate is only for mail.domain.org.sg
2. I have tried to check all settings on the virtual servers and all are correct.
3. Tried to set external URL again using powershell but no luck.
I might be missing out a step, your help will be much appreciated.

Exchange 2007 to 2013 multisite migration
Hi All,
Let me explain my current architecture:
Site A: 1 Exchange 2007 HUB/CAS and 1 Exchange 2007 MBX
SiteB: Same as site A
Site C: 1 Exchange 2013 CAS and 1 Exchange 2013 Mailbox server
Basically I have to consolidate the exchange 2007 infrastructure into the exchange 2013 migrating the mailboxes.
Said this, right now i can see all mailboxes from the 2013 and the mail flow is working.
My question is related to the auto discovery service.
In Site A the SCP is pointing the fqdn of the 2007 HUB/CAS in site A
In Site B the SCP is pointing the fqdn of the 2007 HUB/CAS in site B
Is gonna be right if i change the SCP pointing the new Exchange 2013 CAS on site C?
Moreover, i tried to configure from site B a test mailbox which resides in exchange 2013 and outlook said that cannot access to server, i think because the exchange 2007 CAS cannot dialog properly with the exchange 2013 mailbox server, is this correct?
Thanks,
Cheers,
Dario
Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013 SP1
Exchange 2013 Sp1 says that it is 'Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 Cumulative Update 3 Unattended Setup'
So, I have decompressed my brand new download of Exchange 2013 SP1. This was downloaded from the link at the bottom of the post.
So to start my upgrade I have tried to start by running the schema preparation which then advises me that I am welcomed to:
'Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 Cumulative Update 3 Unattended Setup'
Is this poor QA or was the incorrect file uploaded?

Readiness Check Exchange 2013 fails: All Exchange 2010 servers in the organization must have Exchange 2010 Service Pack 3 or later installed
Hi,
I'm installing Exchange 2013 on a new server (Windows 2012) with AD on it (transferred from an old server). The remnants of AD from the old server have been removed, and the server completely removed from the network. However, when I try to install Exchange 2013 on the new box (not transferring mailboxes etc...fresh install), I get the following error during Readiness Checks:
All Exchange 2010 servers in the organization must have Exchange 2010 Service Pack 3 or later installed
There doesn't seem to be any further connection to the old box (Win 2008 R2 with Exchange 2010). All references were deleted in AD, and the box is switched off.
Any ideas how I can check if a piece of the old server exists or how to get around this? I've looked through all the folders in the AD Sites & Services, ADSI Edit, and AD Users & Computers.
Thanks,
Rob
Exchange 2003 Transitioning
Hi!
We need to upgrade our Exchange 2003 to 2010 and then 2013. We don't have license for 2010. Can we install Exchange 2010 on a hyper-v server as a VM and migrate our 400 Users to it for a few days and then install Exchange 2013 on a physical server and transfer our users to it from 2010?
Secondly, will it be ok to run a single VM for 400 users. We don't have a very busy and heavy email transportation. What is the recommended configuration like partition size, RAM and processor assignment for Exchange 2010 as a VM and how many Databases we should create for 400 Users? We currently have windows 2008 R2 Hyper-V but we also have license for win 2012 Data Center. Is it better to use win 2012 data center for creating VM for Exchange 2010?
Thanks.
Install never completes. Detect partial installation and hangs at 0%
Good day,
I have a brand new Server 2012 R2 box on a Hyper Cluster. We have attempted to install Exchange 2013 Standard to the machine. The install had an issue with a failed trust relationship, but we worked that out. The roles appear to have installed correctly and the powershell is loaded. The install appears to not completed successfully as we don't have the EMC loaded. When we attempt to re-run setup it detects a partial installation, but then hangs at 0%.
I was going to uninstall but it reports there are active mailboxes in the database so I can't uninstall/reinstall. I'm open to any guidance to get this clean environment working properly.

Domain Controllers - same version and software?
Hi there, hope for some help here.
I am upgrading to Exchange 2013 and then 2013 SP1. The prerequisites for this when doing schema ext, etc is that the Domain Controller in the root domain that I am doing the extension and preparation from, has Windows Management Framework 3.0 installed before the 2013 preparation and Windows Management Framework 4.0 before the SP1 preparation.
My question is now, is it enough to install the framework packages on that specific domain controller? Or are there some rules or best practices from MS stating that all DC-s or at least all GC-s or all DCs holding operations master roles have to have the same version of this?
Thanks in advance for answering.
Uninstall/reinstall issues
because of a dumb mistake I can no longer manage the Exchange 2013 server in our test lab and I need to uninstall and reinstall. When I try I get an error: Error:Uninstall can't continue. Database Mailbox Database 0430300065 : This mailbox database contains one or more mailboxes, mailbox plans, archive mailboxes, public folder mailboxes or arbitration mailboxes. <blah, blah, blah>
I tried using the powershell command (as suggested in this long list of instructions under that error) Get-Mailbox -database 0430300065. When I run it I get an error "Unable to find database "0430300065". I can't understand how it can find it to post the error but not when I run the very cmdlet the error instructions suggest I do. <this is frustrating!>
The test installation (my second so far with Exchange 2013 on this lab setup) has been quite frustrating to say the least. This is perhaps the most irritating version of Exchange I have had to deal with. Anyway, rants aside, i want to completely uninstall Exchange 2013 (i don't care about any existing mailboxes, etc...it's just a test environment) and attempt a 3rd installation to see if I can get that to work (previously we a running Exchange 2013 server but we couldn't send externally from the two test mailboxes we created and we couldn't send INTERNALLY either! Connectors for send and receive were setup and the Windows (2012 R2) firewall was off. No other firewalls were on. We were able to ping DNS and IP's anywhere on the LAN. DNS is setup correctly to resolve internal and external names.
So...how can I blow away this installation of Exchange 2013 and re-install???
Is Exchange server 2013 RTM version compatible to migrate from 2007 to 2013 with coexistence?
I'm migrating from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013. We have Microsoft volume license where I downloaded Exchange server 2013 with release Date10/28/2012. In my understanding Exchange server 2013 released on 10/28/2012 is RTM version. My question is to
know if the RTM version is compatible to migrate from 2007 to 2013 with coexistence?
Thanks,
Raphael
