Hi all my fellow IT PRo's
So my IT director are asking what options we have to migrate our users over to our parents company Exchange organisation. I was hoping someone could tell me a little bit more about what option we have and how it would work.
The obvious option is of course that we migrate our users, servers, systems over to the parent company's AD Forest and Exchange Org. I would have gone down the route of using Quest Migration tool for the AD migration piece and then do remote mailbox moves from old AD forest over to the new.
The other option that i do not know too much about is what if we cant migrate users on to new AD at the same time, then what? I am thinking 2 options
1. We tell users outlook to go to new email servers in the new AD forest and they will get a separate login.
2. 2 way trust between AD forests and have a place holder user account in the new forest with a mailbox and we use linked mailboxes?
As you can probably hear i have never done an Exchange migration. hoping someone can give me some info on how to go about this
