Migration 2007 to 2013: Use new domain on 2013 instead of legacy domain?

Hello,

We're currently using an Exchange 2007 server with all roles installed on this one server. All Exchange url's like owa, autodiscover, ews,... point to mail.company.eu . Now in the migration path after installing the new 2013 server you should create a legacy domain and change your 2007 server to use this url instead.
But we also own the domain company.com and we rather starting using this one instead. (It's already set as primary SMTP domain on our 2007 server.)

Can we just configure our new 2013 to use the .com domain and leave the exisiting .eu domain as legacy domain without changing our 2007 server settings?
