Exchange fails readiness check with an unsupported os was detected but it is on windows server 2012 r2

Hello all,

I have a windows server 2012 r2 standard fully patched clean install. Trying to install exchange server 2013 sp1 but when the readiness check runs it fails with "An unsupported OS was detected" any ideas why this is occurring?
