Small organization.
Production server is exchange 2010 (on server 2008 R2)
I need to migrate it to exchange 2013 (on server 2012 R2).
It fails when I try to upgrade exchange 2010 to sp3. It actually ends up breaking the server and I have to restore it from before the sp3 update (which pretty much eliminates a true migration)
I'm getting the feeling that I need to setup the 2013 from scratch.
My question is this: Can I install exchange 2013 in the same domain without it breaking our production server?
I would like to create mailboxes and duplicate mail flow without interrupting the 2010 server and then once I have everything in place I can just change the mx on the inside and outside.
I'm getting the feeling like the 2013 server would take over and break the production.
Any input/ideas/alternative options kindly accepted as well.
