I believe(d) I had properly removed the Exchange Server 2007 from our network after migrating everything to the new Exchange Server 2013 on Windows Server 2012 (Uninstalled on old Windows 2008 server and then removed AD DS, resolved all errors as prerequisites to uninstalling). However, when I look at the 2013 ECP, under Servers -> Servers, it still shows the old 2007 server. How do I remove this artifact? Similarly, on the Servers -> Virtual Directors, it still lists a bunch of references to the old 2007 server. I assume those will disappear if I get rid of the invalid server entry?
How can I get rid of these obsolete entries? Any idea why they didn't go away when I decommissioned the old server?
I've seen some references to removing via ADSI Edit, but they don't make any sense to me (they say to navigate to CN = Configuration, then CN = Services, then CN = Microsoft Exchange, but I don't see anything called Configuration or Services). At the level right below the DC, I see 1 OU entry and 1 CN entry that include "Microsoft Exchange" in them, but I don't know how to see any server names there. If this is the right tool to use to fix, could you please point me to something that explains how to use this tool or tell me what it means to navigate to CN = Configuration and CN = Services?
Thanks very much for any help,
Colin
