I am in the process of designing my Exchange 2013 environment. I am moving from Exchange 2007 with ~2000 mailboxes consuming ~5TB.
With Exchange 2007 we utilized SAN Metro Mirror to duplicate our server to DR. With 2013 I would like to just use Exchange's native functionality and have a passive server at DR containing a single copy of all Databases.
My initial thought was to go with 4 active servers at HQ and a single passive server at DR. I am looking at a single DAG with 8 DBs. When I get all of this data into the latest Exchange Calculator I am not getting the results I expect. When I fail the 4 servers at HQ it is not sending the DB's to my passive server at DR.
Am I overlooking something in this design or is this just a quirk on the calculator?
