Hello together,
having a question about the migration from exchange 2010 to exchange 2013.
Situation A:
Exchange 2010 with CAS Array (MAPI): cas.corp.local
Outlook Anywhere is not enabled. No External Access.
Outlook 2010++ is configured to connect via MAPI to CAS Array.
Situation B:
Exchange 2010 with CAS Array (MAPI): cas.corp.local
Outlook Anywhere is enabled:outlook.corp.com
Outlook 2010++ is configured to connect via MAPI to CAS Array from Internal. From External Outlook Anywhere is beeing used.
Questions:
1. Situation A: ist it neccessary to enable outlook anywhere first in this setup before moving mailboxes to Exchange 2013 ? how is this switchover handled by Exchange ?
Does Exchange 2013 need only to have a external Outlook Anywhere Hostname or is the internal enought for this scenario ?
Where does the Autodiscover Record have to point in the time of the coexistence/migration ?
How does the correct migration process have to look like? Repointing DNS/Migrating Mailboxes, etc.
2. Situation B: this seems to be the "best" configuration correct ? shouldn't make any problems ?
Is there any advantage firstly to configure internal outlooks to use outlook anywhere internal instead of MAPI ?
For Exchange 2013: Internal and external outlook anyhwere hostname has to be configured but can/should be different ?
3. is it better to use outlook anywhere from now internally with Exchange 2010 in spite of knowing exchange 2013 is coming ... ? Why ? What are the advantages ? Or is this only necessary for the "ambiguous urls" Problem scenario ? http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2013/05/23/ambiguous-urls-and-their-effect-on-exchange-2010-to-exchange-2013-migrations.aspx
4. How is the way back if i move a mailbox from exchange 2013 to 2010. Is outlook then configured back to use the cas array by mapi ?
Thanks for Feedback,
Best,
Martin
