I have a client who I have a project to migrate a multi mail domain imail environment to a multi tenancy exchange 2013 environment. The hosted exchange has been setup in a new domain just for these franchise mail domains and I have followed up a few threads
on the internet for setting up a multi-tenancy environment. immediate to do's are to get a public mx record for the hosting domain and setup auto-discovery (I am taking these as a must do).
I am about ready to do some test migrations on the first mail domain to be migrated and am trying to find out what would be the best form of migration - I have incoming email routing through exchange to the imail mail domain (there are ten imail domains
and I will be doing one at a time to keep it as simple as possible). So I have Send and Receive connectors setup between exchange and the first imail domain to be migrated.
The other quandary I am in is that each imail mail domain has dns and mx records independent of all the others but belonging to the franchise managing corporation. Do I keep each independent setup - will autodiscovery work for outlook (I fear not) and owa access (they use a webmail address of mail.domainname.com to logon to webmail for imail) or do I have to incorporate it all into the new hosting record (which I think is the way it will have to be).
Just wanting to clarify on the above points?
AND, thank you in advance for any guidance that can be offered
