Cannot connect with Outlook 2013 on Windows 10, other OS are fine

Just set up a test environment for MS Exchange as follows:
1 x AD Server, Windows 2012 R2
1 x Exchange 2010 SP3 RU 10 on Windows 2008 R2
1 x Exchange 2013 CU 10 on Windows 2012 R2
I can connect with Outlook on a Windows 7 client with Outlook 2013
I can connect with Outlook on Windows 8 client with Outlook 2013
I can not connect with Outlook on Windows 10 client with Outlook 2013
Get the error “The connection to microsoft exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected exchange” during the startup wizard for the Windows 10 client. I have stopped all firewalls on client and servers but no change.
Do I have to set up any additional configuration in AD/Exchange to connect with Windows 10 clients?
Thanks for any suggestions/comments.

Exchange Hybrid deployment

Dear people,

I need some help with mij hybrid environment.
Last week we configured Hybrid for exchange online. when i try to migrate it gives me the follow error message:
The Your server settings could not be detected. Enter the settings. The settings of the Exchange remote endpoint could not be determined by the response of automatic discover
No MRSProxy was found which was carried out on 'mail.imagebuilders.nl

When i run the best practive analyzer it gives 3 failures
check health entry 'oabproxytestmonitor'
check health entry 'mapi.submit.monitor'
office 365 hybrid configuration - validate the certififcate img-ex01.imagebuilders.local\***** is in porper place for federation and mail flow.

When i look to the details of the last failure it gives the follow output.

The server img-ex01 is configrued for office 365 hybrid.
but the certificate 'img-ex01.imagebuilders.local\41415433ca*******************b583f' is not proper in place for federation and mailflow for office 365 hybrid configuration.
expected status: get-exchangecertificate to see it should be third party, have aprivate key, and have the SMTP service associated with.
actual status: isselfsigned = true, hasprivatekey=true, services=SMTP, Federation.

Anyone that can help me with this problem?

Exchange 2013 one AD Domain, different sites/subnets,multiple email domains ?

I'm the admin with basic knowledge of Exchange currently working at a branch office in an Organization with two main branches/sites in different cities, Site A(172.16.0.0/16) and Site B (172.18.0.0/16) both in an AD Domain "abc.com".

I'am currently working at Site B which is part of an AD Domain "abc.com", whose Forest Root Domain is at Site A. Site A has an Exchange server handling emails only for users in Site A "alias@abc.com"......Due to the nature of business at Site B, we have 3 internet domains "efg.com, xyz.com and jkl.com" used for emails which are running on a Linux box.

My requirement is to move away from the Linux environment at Site B to and deploy and Exchange server (joined to the "abc.com" AD Domain) but handling emails for "efg.com, xyz.com and jkl.com" internet domains.

How can i achieve this. Thank you

Resources - allow conflicts

Exchange 2013 currently... but in previous version of exchange you could run this command on resource:

Set-MailboxCalendarSettings -Identity "ROOM-NAME" -AllowConflicts $True

Where is this command hidden in Exchange2013?

CAS & MBX in different site

$

Hi,

I need to upgrade an Exchange 2010 to 2013. It is a single AD domain with two AD sites. The second AD site is their datacenter connected with a reliable VPN. The customer prefers that the mailboxes are stored in the datacenter site for phyiscal security, but client connections including OWA are made from the office site. The current situation is one Exchange 2010 in the office site. They prefer that the URL for the OWA is not changed and this is bound to the office site.

I first thought to install a CAS in the office site and a MBX in the datacenter site. But then I remembered that Exchange 2010 required one CAS per AD site. This appears this to be through for Exchange 2013 according to what I can find.

How would you solve this? The (license) costs are also important for the customer, so in worst case I advice to have them both installed in one site.

Thanks

Exchange 2013 Hybrid - Free/Busy

Hello everybody!

I have a question that I've already posted on Yammer IT pro about the Free/Busy sharing on Exchange 2013(SP1 CU9) in hybrid deployment with O365, but I haven't succeeded yet :( I've configured hybrid and everything has been working just like I expected. When I started the testing phase I found a few problems. I managed to figure most of them but I'm stuck with the Free/Busy sharing.

Here's is the scenario I need help with. I have a mailbox in the On-premise organization. The user adds a calendar of the mailbox from the Exchange online organization. Here it comes. When the on-prem user adds the calendar of the online user to his Outlook It constantly prompts for credentials. What's even weirder about this When the user clicks on the "Cancel" button the Free/Busy informations displays anyway. That means the authentication process works well. I've discovered that the Outlook is sending HTTP requests to this URL: https://autodiscover-s.outlook.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml. What I suppose is a standard behavior. The question is, why the Outlook is unable to authenticate? When I add credentials manually everything works fine.

I wasn't lazy and I installed a new environment with the clean installation of Exchange 2013 SP1 CU9. I've configured hybrid configuration with a new O365 tenant. The topology should be all the same. Everything works just fine without any prompts or problems. Even though I'm not able figure out where the problem is.

Any idea?

Hi there.
If you are installing fresh exchange 2013 server, should you start with EX2013 SP1 and after that put CU10, or you can already start with CU10?

2007 to 2013 Migration with Outlook Anywhere Basic Authentication

$

0

I am in the process of testing Exchange 2007 to 2013 migration. I have a question regarding Outlook Anywhere settings on Exchange 2013.  Sorry for the long post, question is at bottom.

My current Exchange 2007 server is setup to use Basic Authentication for Outlook Anywhere.  I have many domain joined laptops that frequently leave the internal network.  I have ISA 2006 setup to proxy Outlook anywhere and it works great; when the laptop is on the internal network, Outlook connects via RPC and NTLM as expected.  When the laptop is outside the network, Outlook connects via ISA 2006 using Basic authentication.

I have a Kemp Load Balancer setup to proxy the new Exchange 2013 server, the kemp balancer does handle pre-authentication (basic) just like the ISA 2006 server does.

I am now at the point where Exchange 2013 is installed in the environment and configured (URLs, certificates, DB's, etc).  I have not started to configure co-existence yet so all DNS still points to the Exchange 2007 server.  What I have done though is tested Exchange 2013 creating a mailbox on 2013 and tested operation by modifying HOST file on a client to point to the new Exchange 2013 server.  Outlook 2007 connects successfully to the Exchange 2013 account.

However, this is where I run into the issue: When I change the HOST file of the test client to point to the Kemp Load Balancer to test operation, Outlook will no longer connect, but instead will provide an endless password prompt!  So I look at the Outlook 2007 Outlook Anywhere settings and it has the Proxy Authentication settings set to NTLM and not basic which explains the issue.  If I change to basic, Outlook can then connect just fine through the Kemp Proxy.

But of course once I simulate the client being back on the internal network by changing the HOST file back to point to the Exchange 2013 server, autodiscover then changes the Outlook Proxy Authentication type back to NTLM!  I would then have to manually change back to Basic when not on the internal network!

TLDR:

My question is this:  How can I setup Exchange 2013 Outlook Anywhere to use NTLM inside the network and Basic Outside the network like is done in Exchange 2007?  Or can you only use one authentication method?

What is confusing me is I can see an Internal Authentication method and an External Auth method in Exchange 2013 outlook anywhere settings but it looks like I can only change External Authentication method.  Outlook 2007 configures itself via Autodiscover to use the Internal settings.

thanks

Upgraded Lotus Notes version into newer 8.5 it has complex functionalities. These functions are not easily graspable and it takes long time to understand, I decide to export my data into another (MS Outlook) platform, is it possible, I want new updates about conversion in cost-effective manner. And if yes then suggests me the way?

Deserialization fails due to one SerializationException

Hi All,

I'm getting this "Deserialization fails due to one SerializationException" when attempting to run the Hybrid Configuration Wizard on a new On-Premise Exchange 2013 CU9 server.

There are currently 2 Exchange 2010 servers (CAS & Mailbox) on-premise and we've migrated all mailboxes to Exchange online, I've been asked to decommission the Exchange 2010 servers and replace with a single Exchange 2013 server for management. The new server has been installed and when I attempt to run the HCW on it I receive:

Exchange 2013 2007 Cross-site Co-existence

$

Hello All,

I have a question that I just cant wrap my head around. I have done some mailbox migrations in the past, but nothing like this. Before I continue, I want to make sure I fully understand this to make sure all goes smoothly. Cross-site coexistence is a new concept for me.

The Questions:

How will cross-site coexistence work and function between these 2 servers?

Will any additional setup need to happen beyond what is normally done for an Exchange 2013 migration?

The Data:

Client has 3 sites, one of which has their current Exch box ('07). This server is not at the main site, but a colo for the company.

We are planning to install a new Exch 2013 box and migrate all to the new version. This new server will be in the main site and not the Colo. Server setup has not been performed yet. All the pre reqs have been setup and the '07 box fully updated to prepare for the new server install.

DNS records are in place so that clients can access OWA on the '07 server

I think that's it for the info. If more is needed, let me know and ill supply what I can.

Thanks in advance,

~JT

Outlook Anywhere configuration in coexistence with Exchange 2010

Hi,

Outlook anywhere is disabled on our EX2K10 servers. Externally, we only use OWA and ActiveSync. I have deployed EX2K13 servers and configured outlook anywhere with only an internal hostname (external hostname left blank). That hostname cannot be resolved externally as we don't want to use outlook anywhere externally.

The deployment assistant says you need to enable outlook anywhere on EX2K10 and use the EX2K13 external hostname as the external url. I don't have an external hostname. In our case, is it still necessary to enable outlook anywhere on EX2K10? Or do I need to enable outlook anywhere on EX2K10 and use the internal hostname as external url?

Regard,

Frederic

Mailbox splits to both O365 and Exchange Database

Hi guys,

more than 6 months ago I setup an Exchange 2013 Hybrid infrastructure with more than 400 mailboxes.

All worked fine and I was able to move mailboxes between the two enviroments until few days ago.

90% of our mailboxes are on Exchange Online and only few mailboxes stay on the local Exchange 2013 database.

Two days ago some colleagues that had the mailbox on Exchange Online told me that they do not receive anymore the emails.

I've check the Exchange Server and I see that on ECP the mailbox do not results on O365!!

So I've check on portal.office.com and I saw that the user still has the mailbox on Exchange Online!

Incredible things is that I can log into the mailbox from both environment!!! OWA in Exchange Server and on outlook.office365.com!!!

Now ALL the mailbox that was on Exchnage Online are ALSO on Exchange Database and I can't move it again to Online!!

What I have to do???

We have exchange 2013 SP1 would like to upgrade to CU9. there are two servers main server is SP1 the second server is CU9 while installing the second server the /prepad /prepschema /prepdomain completed.

Now planning to upgrade the first server to CU9 I was told no need to run prep again which is fine. Any other points I have to consider before running Setup.exe /upgrade from CU9 extracted folder?

Hi All

I have just deployed a single exchange 2013 box, the first 2013 in our enviroment.

I have fully prepped the domain and schema ready. Installation went swimmingly no faults. I have now licensed the server. Within servers I can see both of my servers, the 2010 one and the 2013. However upon clicking databases I can only see the 2013 database, I cannot see the 2010 one. Have reviewed permissions and everything looks good as far as I can see.

Any ideas?
